Gehenna Gaming Releases Free Quickstart for New Tabletop RPG “Eldritch Automata” Ahead of Backerkit Campaign
Gehenna Gaming today announced the availability of a free quickstart for their newest game, “Eldritch Automata.” The game, slated for a full launch with a Backerkit campaign in June, merges cosmic horror with mecha combat in an innovative tabletop roleplaying game experience.
Developed under the Year Zero Engine Open Gaming License by Fria Ligan AB, “Eldritch Automata” features an original set of rules, lore, and game setting crafted by Gehenna Gaming. The game positions players as the last defenders of humanity, piloting enormous mechs known as Automata to fight against eldritch horrors controlled by seemingly angelic beings.
The creation of “Eldritch Automata” is led by Nicholas Francia and Ian E. Muller, both veterans in organizing horror RPG events. The game draws inspiration from various sources including “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” “Pacific Rim,” and “Godzilla,” incorporating elements from science fiction, cosmic and psychological horror, and anime to cater to a diverse audience of tabletop RPG enthusiasts.
The game emphasizes a balance between narrative and action, using a gaming engine that supports engaging storytelling and dynamic combat sequences. Character creation is designed to be quick and simple, allowing players to get started in approximately 10 minutes, yet the game provides depth with its combat and stress management systems. Players also navigate complex interpersonal relationships within the game, affecting their journey and interactions in a world fraught with danger.
Gehenna Gaming’s “Eldritch Automata” also offers extensive customization for characters and their mechs, enabling a varied and immersive gameplay experience. The game’s setting spans several distinct regions, each with unique challenges and backstories that enhance the role-playing experience.
