Dark Fantasy Card & Dice Game Hellbringer Launches on Kickstarter, Inspired by Diablo Games

A tabletop board game setup featuring elements of a dark fantasy card game, with various cards, player boards, tokens, and game pieces arranged neatly. Stacks of cards and dice complement the Diablo Games vibe, while player resources on the sides hint at its Kickstarter origins.

Hellbringer, a new card and dice game inspired by the popular Diablo games by Blizzard, has launched on Kickstarter. Developed by Les Éditions Smash, the game is a solo-coop dark fantasy roguelike where players venture into a dungeon to slay a mighty demon.

The game features a perception-based combat system where players need a perception equal or greater than that of their opponent to see and attack them. The game also incorporates an all or nothing system, where the sum of a target’s health points and armor points defines the total needed to eliminate it. The game also includes hero building, allowing players to progress and optimize their characters through items, enchantments, companions, attribute points, and skills. Players can permanently increase their character’s attributes by using the card of an eliminated enemy. The game also features ten scenarios, available in narrated text and audio, and a specially designed soundtrack to fully immerse players in its demonic universe.

The game can be played solo or in coop mode, and the game’s richness is felt when played in a group. Players can offer cards to each other, resurrect eliminated players, and create combos using certain cards to improve the damage of their teammates. However, the more players in the game, the greater the difficulty.

Hellbringer is available for backing on Kickstarter now, with pledges starting at CA$65 for the core game. The campaign has a funding goal of CA$26,500 and will run until March 21, 2023. With its unique gameplay mechanics and immersive universe, Hellbringer is set to be a hit with fans of dark fantasy, roguelike, and card and dice games.
