L’Arsene’s Ledger of Treasures and Trinkets by Loot Tavern, has raised almost $300,000 from a $20,000 goal with 29 days left to go on Kickstarter. The campaign ends on April 28. The 400+ page tome is a Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition sourcebook filled with arcane instruments and wondrous weapons, a guidebook for GMs and players on building balanced magic items, bursting with art, subclasses, familiars, spells, crafting recipes, and dark, jocular whimsy.
The book offers a wide array of thematic magic items, from the astral planes to the depths of the nine hells, with rarity variants that grow with players from common trinkets to legendary relics. Each magic item is designed around a nugget of lore upon which you can build plot hooks, backstories, or entire campaigns. Additionally, there is a standalone adventure supplement called Motes of the Divine, where players face off against failed demi-gods in five horrifying adventure-hunts, playable at three different levels.
The Crafting Workshop enables players to become inventors and design balanced magic items, and familiars can be crafted using the remains of boss monsters. Each familiar can be trained by the Tamer class and become a ‘bespoke companion’ with a unique skill tree that allows customization of their abilities. The project also includes new subclasses such as the way of the artisan monk and the path of the brewmaster barbarian, as well as original loot like the mimic tankard and the astral expanse dice.
