Triton Noir’s latest expansion to the hit board game Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice, titled “Apocalypse,” has shattered its Kickstarter goal within 24 minutes of launch. With 15 days still left to go, the project has already amassed over $250,106 from 1,766 backers, far exceeding its initial target of $55,288.
Dubbed “Apocalypse,” the expansion takes players to the jungles of the ancient Khmer Empire in the 16th century, a setting never before explored in the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise. As assassins in pursuit of a rogue member of their order, players will navigate brand new environments and face off against unique enemies, armed with weapons and equipment crafted by Triton Noir for this expansion.
One notable feature of “Apocalypse” is the introduction of an open-world system that links each of the ‘Memories,’ bringing a new level of gameplay immersion to the board game.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice is a cooperative miniature board game that transports players to the heart of the Italian Renaissance. Through a story-driven campaign of 26 Memories, players become assassins navigating the city of Venice in 1509. Each assassin possesses unique abilities that can be levelled up during the campaign, opening new skills and capabilities.
The game invites players to dive into the world of intrigue and stealth, offering them a variety of tactics to succeed. They can locate equipment in chests or enlist the aid of Leonardo Da Vinci to craft unique items. By climbing roofs and towers, players can evade pursuers and unlock new game elements. Additional gameplay mechanics include bribing enemies, utilizing secret hideouts to evade patrols, and altering level layouts.
The game’s innovative save system ensures the campaign can adapt to the varying number of players in each session, adjusting the level of play accordingly. After each Memory, players can return to their headquarters to heal wounds, increase the fame of their brotherhood, and construct special equipment.
The retail edition of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice includes the same scenarios as the original Kickstarter release, but replaces all but five of the detailed assassin figurines with standees. This edition comprises five miniatures, 139 standees, six secret envelopes, 41 tiles, and over 400 cards.
The expansion also promises many surprises hidden within sealed envelopes, including encounters with well-known personalities from the Assassin’s Creed video games, as well as four unique characters created specifically for this game.
The success of the Kickstarter campaign speaks to the anticipation surrounding this latest expansion, with fans eagerly awaiting their chance to explore this new chapter of the Assassin’s Creed universe on their tabletops.
