Horrible Guild Announces New Game “Spotlight” Set to Debut at Gen Con
Horrible Guild has announced the release of their new board game, “Spotlight,” a cooperative hidden object game that engages players in searching for items and characters in dark, intricately designed scenes. The game is the brainchild of designers Lorenzo Silva and Hjalmar Hach, who are celebrated for their successful titles such as Railroad Ink, Potion Explosion, and Similo.
“Spotlight” accommodates 1 to 5 players, each tasked with finding various hidden objects using a magic flashlight to illuminate their individual game boards. The boards consist of a transparent layer over a black cardboard base, challenging players to identify objects within a limited time frame.
The game progresses over five rounds. Players search for hidden pictures and, when time is up, must estimate the number of items they have discovered. Their pawns advance on a track based on the number of items found. The goal is to cross the finish line before the Moon pawn, which also moves along the track, can catch up to them. Players may use rush tokens to move their pawns forward to avoid being overtaken by the Moon pawn, but depleting these tokens could result in losing the game if the Moon pawn catches up.
“Spotlight” is scheduled to premiere at Gen Con, taking place from August 1-4 in Indianapolis. The game will be available at the Horrible Guild booth (#1354) and the booth of their North American partners, Flat River Games (#1429).
