Dying Light: The Board Game to Bring Zombie Apocalypse to Tabletops: Kickstarter Launch Announced
Glass Cannon Unplugged has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for Dying Light: The Board Game, scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2024. This project marks the adaptation of the Dying Light video game series into a board game format, aimed at fans of both mediums.
The game, designed by Przemysław Zub and Bartosz Tomala, is intended for 1-4 players. It is set in the post-apocalyptic city of Villedor and involves a cooperative or solo gameplay style focused on survival against a backdrop of a zombie-like Infected population. The designers have incorporated a unique parkour and combat system into the gameplay, attempting to translate the video game’s dynamic into a board game experience.
Key features of Dying Light: The Board Game include an expansive city map enhanced with 3D structures, interactive elements, and a day and night cycle that affects gameplay. Despite these complex elements, the game aims to maintain straightforward and easy-to-learn rules. It emphasizes various play styles and a narrative that involves navigating alliances and threats within the game’s setting.
The Kickstarter campaign represents a collaboration between Glass Cannon Unplugged and Techland, the creators of the Dying Light video game. The crowdfunding approach is part of a long-term licensing partnership, with plans for the game to potentially include additional modules, add-ons, and expansions based on the response to the Kickstarter campaign.
