Steamforged Games Sets Sail with Tabletop Version of Sea of Thieves: Voyage of Legends
Steamforged Games has officially released its highly anticipated tabletop version of “Sea of Thieves: Voyage of Legends”, plunging board game enthusiasts into a thrilling world of piracy on the high seas.
Retailing at £59.99, the game can be purchased from Steamforged.com and other great retailers. Perfect for two to four players, the tabletop game promises an adventure packed with peril and exhilaration as players strive to amass a formidable reputation and compete for the prestigious Pirate Legend title.
“Sea of Thieves: Voyage of Legends” is a conversion of the popular shared-world adventure game developed by Rare and published by Xbox Game Studios. Players will have the opportunity to upgrade their ships (from a humble Sloop to a formidable Galleon), recruit crew members, and trade cargo at the main Outpost. Just as in the original video game, players will hunt for treasure, vie for the esteemed title of Pirate Lord, and encounter familiar features such as skeleton-garrisoned abandoned forts and the ominous threats of the Kraken and Megalodon at sea.
Inside the game box, players will find a treasure trove of components, including seven game board tiles, 24 standees, ten dice, four rules reference cards, 18 special crew cards, 20 event cards, 52 fortune cards, 52 voyage cards, 12 ship cards, eight enemy cards, and over 300 tokens.
Steamforged Games’ mission was to create a tabletop experience that mirrors and reimagines the video game’s atmosphere. The board game serves as a hub where players can track their progress and keep various cards needed to achieve the status of pirate legend. The game typically takes between 90 to 120 minutes to play.
Sherwin Matthews, Lead Designer of the board game, shared his excitement about the project: “We were extremely excited to have been entrusted with creating the Sea of Thieves tabletop game. Several of our team are huge fans of the video game, and it’s been a wonderful and rewarding world to explore for a tabletop adaptation. I’m thrilled that we’ve created a new way for fans to enjoy their favorite game, and for new people to experience the #bemorepirate life for the first time.”
With “Sea of Thieves: Voyage of Legends”, Steamforged Games invites you to embark on an unforgettable voyage in the search for treasure and adventure. So, prepare your crew and set sail – the journey to becoming a Pirate Legend awaits!
