Second Draft of the ORC License Ready for Public Comment
Back in January, Paizo and an alliance of more than 1,500 game publishers announced their ambitious plan to support the development of the Open RPG Creative (ORC) License. The ORC License aims to establish a system-agnostic, perpetual, and irrevocable open gaming license that fosters the sharing of rules mechanics and encourages collaboration and innovation within the tabletop gaming industry. After months of dedicated work, the team behind the ORC License is delighted to announce that the second draft of the license is now available for public comment.
Incorporating feedback and suggestions from hundreds of participating publishers on the ORC License Discord community, this second draft represents a significant step forward in the development process. The team has focused on enhancing the clarity of key terms and definitions, expanding the official FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) document, and introducing various quality-of-life improvements across the board.
Interested individuals and stakeholders can access a copy of the ORC License and its associated FAQ/AxE (Answers and Explanations) document for review. The team invites the community to provide their feedback on the ORC License Discord platform until the end of the day next Monday, May 22nd. This round of public commentary is intended to be the final wave of feedback before the presentation of the definitive version of the license. The team plans to release the finalized ORC License by the end of May.
The project organizers extend their deepest gratitude to all the participants who have contributed their valuable insights and perspectives thus far. Their feedback has played an invaluable role in shaping the ORC License into an ideal open gaming license that will benefit the tabletop gaming community for years to come.
As the second draft of the ORC License becomes available for public comment, it heralds the imminent arrival of a new era of open gaming. This innovative license holds the potential to revolutionize the tabletop gaming landscape, enabling creators and players to collaborate, share ideas, and drive innovation in an inclusive and collaborative manner. The ORC License represents a significant milestone for the industry, and its forthcoming final version is eagerly anticipated by enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Stay tuned for further updates as the final version of the ORC License is set to be unveiled at the end of this month.
