Modiphius Opens Pre-Orders for “Space: 1999” Tabletop RPG
Modiphius Entertainment has announced the availability of pre-orders for the new tabletop RPG based on the 1970s science fiction television series “Space: 1999.” This announcement coincides with Breakaway Day, an homage to the series’ premise.
The “Space: 1999” TTRPG, produced in collaboration with Anderson Entertainment, utilizes Modiphius’ 2d20 system, which has been tailored to accommodate both new and experienced players. The core rulebook is priced at £45 and is scheduled for release this winter. Customers who pre-order will receive a digital copy of the Quickstart guide.
“Space: 1999” originally aired in 1975 and spanned two seasons. The series portrayed the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, isolated in space following a catastrophic explosion that propels the moon out of Earth’s orbit.
In the RPG, the setting is the same 1999 as envisioned in the series, with humanity on the brink of expanding into the cosmos. The game’s backdrop, Moonbase Alpha, has been elaborately designed to provide a rich environment for gameplay, offering various roles such as pilots, security personnel, and medics among its 311 characters.
Players can also acquire the “Space: 1999 Moonbase Alpha Technical Operations Manual” from The Gerry Anderson store to supplement their game with detailed information about the setting and technology of the series.
Pre-orders can be placed through Modiphius Entertainment’s Space: 1999 page.
