Fantasy Flight Games Announces New Dream-chaser Cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
Fantasy Flight Games has announced the release of the Dream-chaser cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. The new expansions, the Dream-chaser Hero Expansion and Dream-chaser Campaign Expansion, are a repackaging of the original Grey Havens and Dream-chaser cycle of Adventure Packs, and contain all of the player and scenario-related cards from those expansions.
The Dream-chaser Hero Expansion includes a wide range of heroes from all over Middle-earth, such as the steward Denethor, Galdor of the Havens, the Corsair Na’asiyah, and Círdan the Shipwright. In addition, this expansion comes with plenty of allies, attachments, and events, all of which are themed around high seas adventures.
The Dream-chaser Campaign Expansion, on the other hand, contains all of the scenarios from The Grey Havens and the original Dream-chaser cycle, all of which are strung together to form an epic tale. Players will sail across the ocean, charting their course and performing sailing tests to fight changing winds and raging currents. They will also have to contend with the Corsair deck, a special deck entirely made up of seafaring enemies.
The new campaign introduces a new mechanic to the game: experience (XP). Each scenario awards a certain amount of XP, which can be spent on upgrading ships and other boons. However, players must also watch out for the burdens that will follow them from one scenario to the next.
The Dream-chaser cycle is perfect for both new fans and longtime fans of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. The Dream-chaser Hero Expansion and Dream-chaser Campaign Expansion will be available this summer, and fans can pre-order their own copy at their local retailer or online through the Fantasy Flight Games webstore.
