Cryptozoic Entertainment, in association with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and DC, has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for DC Deck-Building Game: Justice League Dark. Following the success of the previous DC Deck-Building Game 10th Anniversary Kickstarter, which earned over $1 million, this new campaign is off to a promising start, with US$ 154,765 already pledged of the US$ 100,000 goal, and with 29 days still remaining.
The centerpiece of the campaign is the new major release, a base set based on DC’s Justice League Dark comic books. It also features the two-player title, DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals – Shazam! vs. Black Adam, based on the epic rivalry between the iconic characters. In addition to these core games, fans have the opportunity to pledge for a host of expansions, accessories, and exclusives, including two expansions for DC Deck-Building Game: Rebirth, an expansion based on the Legion of Doom, playmats, and card sleeves.
Cryptozoic’s Vice President of Product Development & Marketing, Shahriar Fouladi, expressed excitement about the campaign, “Basing a game on Justice League Dark gave us the opportunity to add lots of exciting new game mechanics inspired by magic and the supernatural… It’s going to be a fantastic 30 days for the whole community!”
DC Deck-Building Game: Justice League Dark offers players the chance to become supernatural DC heroes like Wonder Woman, John Constantine, Zatanna, and Doctor Fate as they take on mystical Super-Villains. Notably, backers can choose between two unique covers, with art by Ryan Benjamin and Raymond Gay respectively.
The campaign also offers the chance for fans to be at the heart of the mystical battle in DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals – Shazam! vs. Black Adam. In this game, each player needs to defeat their rival three times using three unique Character cards, each with increasingly powerful abilities.
The Kickstarter campaign runs until July 27, with pledge tiers starting at $75. If stretch goals are achieved, additional cards and other enhancements will be added to the products. The preordered items are expected to be delivered to backers by April 2024. Retail releases of the DC Deck-Building Game: Justice League Dark and Rivals – Shazam! vs. Black Adam will follow at a later date.
