WOAD: Stone to Stone, a Solo Journalling Game Inspired by Welsh Mythology, Reaches Funding Goal in Under 48 Hours on Kickstarter

WOAD: Stone to Stone, a new solo journalling game inspired by Welsh mythology, has reached its funding goal of £14.000 on Kickstarter in under 48 hours.

The game allows players to forge their own path through Mythic Cymru with a custom tarot deck as their guide. As players travel from standing stone to standing stone, they encounter a variety of friends, foes, and fae, all while capturing their quest in their journal. Gods will bless and curse players, and long nights will try to end their journey. If their story survives to be heard by the next generation, players may even become part of the myth themselves.

WOAD began as an idea to spread lesser-known aspects of Welsh mythology. The creator, who has lived in Wales for over a third of their life and studied mythology at a Welsh university, realized how little they knew about the rich and wonderful mythology of the land they now call home.

One of the game’s unique features is its custom tarot deck, which provides players with a set of major and minor arcana cards containing all the threads they need to weave their story’s tapestry. The deck also features beautiful original illustrations.

The game’s mechanics are more involved than other journaling RPGs, with a simple gaming system that resolves connecting story prompts and incorporates the boons and banes of the Gods of the Major Arcana.

WOAD has also gained attention for its miniatures, including a miniature of Bran the Blessed designed by the modular world team and painted by the talented Xenus_Minis.

With its successful Kickstarter campaign, WOAD: Stone to Stone is set to bring the fascinating world of Welsh mythology to life in a unique and engaging way.
