Treeceratops Announces “New Shores” Expansion for Zoo Tycoon Board Game
Swiss board game publisher Treeceratops has officially announced the launch of “New Shores,” an expansion for “Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game.” This expansion draws inspiration from the well-known “Marine Mania” expansion of the Zoo Tycoon computer game series.
Holding the exclusive Zoo Tycoon license from Microsoft, Treeceratops has previously seen success with the Kickstarter campaign for the base game, which led to satisfactory sales figures and paved the way for this expansion.
“New Shores” aims to enhance the original game by introducing a new Animal Exchange Board with three additional biomes: water, dry forest, and tundra. This expansion includes over 24 new main species and 60 smaller species, incorporating a variety of animals such as reptiles, aquatic and semiaquatic animals, and Australian species.
The expansion also introduces a vivarium feature, which adds new strategic elements to the game. The modular Animal Exchange Board allows for various combinations of old and new species, offering diverse gameplay experiences.
In response to modern perspectives on marine life in captivity, the expansion focuses not only on marine mammals but also includes a wider range of species. This broader focus is reflected in the name “New Shores.”
The funding for “New Shores” will be sourced through a Kickstarter campaign set to launch on July 2nd. This campaign marks the final opportunity to obtain the deluxe version of both the base game and the expansion, which includes over 450 screen-printed wooden animal meeples.
Further details about the expansion and the upcoming Kickstarter campaign are available on Treeceratops’ official landing page and the Kickstarter page.
