Steamforged Games, the UK’s leading creator and publisher of licensed tabletop games, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their latest endeavor: Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game. Based on the successful video game expansion, this cooperative combat campaign board game already amassed over $868,216, surpassing its initial goal of $186,037, with 5,924 backers and still 13 days to go.

Building on the success of its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World™ board game, which raised £3.4 million with 20,000 backers on Kickstarter in 2021, the Iceborne edition introduces exciting new mechanics and creatures to hunt. Designed for 1-4 players, the game lets participants traverse the frozen tundra in pursuit of formidable beasts, engaging in strategic, card-driven combat along the way.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game invites players to slay a wide array of massive monsters, each kill enabling the crafting of increasingly superior weapons, in turn opening the possibility to hunt even larger prey. The notorious Iceborne Clutch Claw is also at players’ disposal, facilitating thrilling close encounters with the beasts. The gaming experience is further intensified by unpredictable and lethal monster turf wars that may interrupt the hunts.

Steamforged Games also announced an exclusive partnership with Kickstarter for their next four crowdfunding campaigns, including the current Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game project.

“We’re incredibly excited to have launched Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game on Kickstarter,” said Rich Loxam, Steamforged Games CEO and co-founder. “Kickstarter has been key to the making of Steamforged and is a big part of how we’ve gotten where we are today.”

Under this collaboration, Kickstarter and Steamforged will create educational content for emerging games creators to support the next generation of tabletop publishers.

Kickstarter’s Chief Strategy Officer, Jon Leland, shared that big projects like Steamforged’s not only succeed in their own right but also have a halo effect that benefits the entire Kickstarter community. Indeed, Steamforged’s prior campaigns have brought 30,000 first-time backers to Kickstarter, who have made an additional 230,000 pledges, totalling more than $18.5 million to more than 30,000 other campaigns on the platform.

The Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game Kickstarter will run until June 1. For more updates on this and upcoming Steamforged projects, interested individuals can sign up for the Steamforged newsletter or visit the Kickstarter page.
