Pathfinder Offers Free Beginner Box Days for New Players

A colorful fantasy-themed illustration featuring diverse characters, including elves and dragons, surrounds the text "Beginner Box Days, April 13-21, BeginPF2.com." Perfect for new players exploring Pathfinder, the background includes a cloudy sky and mystical runes.

This week marks the launch of the third annual Beginner Box Days for Pathfinder Second Edition, hosted by r/Pathfinder2e. The event is designed to attract new players by offering free access to the Pathfinder Beginner Box, which includes the newly remastered version of the game known as “Pathfinder Remastered.”

From April 13 to April 21, newcomers have the opportunity to experience Pathfinder with the guidance of experienced gamemasters. The event features a structured introduction to the game through various levels filled with monsters, traps, and puzzles. Participants may use pregenerated characters or create their own to navigate the challenges.

Pete Zupan, lead organizer and moderator of r/Pathfinder2e, commented on the event’s history and its purpose. “The Beginner Box has been a critical tool in introducing new players to the game. With each event, we aim to facilitate learning and engagement within the Pathfinder community,” said Zupan.

Paizo, the company behind Pathfinder, has released these materials under the new Open RPG Creative license (“ORC License”). This includes the Player Core, GM Core, and Monster Core books, with further expansions planned for release in the coming months.

The Beginner Box is accessible in both physical and digital formats, and is compatible with several virtual tabletop platforms, including Roll20, Demiplane, and Foundry VTT. These platforms have supported the event by providing prizes, discounts, and free materials for gamemasters.

Marketing and Media Specialist at Paizo, Rue, emphasized the benefits of the event. “The Beginner Box is an excellent entry point for new players. Through Beginner Box Days, we can strengthen the community and encourage more people to start playing Pathfinder,” Rue stated.

With over 130 games available for registration, the event is prepared to welcome a significant number of participants. Players who join the event will also receive credits that can be applied towards their first Pathfinder Society character, further integrating them into the global Pathfinder community.
