Garphill Games Introduces “Scholars of the South Tigris” on Kickstarter: A Strategic Dice Bag-Building Game Set in Medieval Baghdad
Excitement is brewing as Garphill Games introduces its latest tabletop game, “Scholars of the South Tigris,” on Kickstarter. This 1-4 player dice bag-building strategy game is set in medieval Baghdad, during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, circa 830 AD.
In the game, players are called upon to acquire scientific manuscripts from all over the known world. They must increase their influence in the House of Wisdom, hire skilled linguists to translate the foreign scrolls into Arabic, and balance their pursuit of knowledge with their pursuit of victory points.
One of the key features of the game is its unique combination of bag building, dice placement, color mixing, and “workers for mitigation,” which creates an engaging and strategic experience at the table. The game also boasts six unique research tracks, a huge variety of scrolls and translator packs for hours of replayability, and a shared resource system of scrolls and translators that adds a lot of positive interaction and tension between players.
