Daily Magic Games has recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their latest tabletop game, “Castellans of Valeria.” Set on Valeria’s western frontier, the game puts players in a head-to-head contest to construct the most magnificent city jurisdictions in Kosk, aiming to secure the coveted position of Castellan.
The Kickstarter campaign, which ends on June 20, has already surpassed its initial goal of US$10,000, with 607 backers pledging over US$29,091. With 14 days remaining, interested board game enthusiasts still have time to back the project and potentially secure a copy of the game upon release.
“Castellans of Valeria” invites players into a strategic dance of building, where each decision could determine their rise to Castellan or their descent into obscurity. Players must balance short-term gains against long-term objectives and decide whether to settle for smaller payoffs now or gamble for more substantial rewards later.
The game gets increasingly complex as the local Magistrate wanders around each district of Kosk, casting judgment upon everyone’s work at unpredictable intervals. Players are thus forced to juggle their strategic planning with the need to curry favor with the Magistrate, introducing an element of unpredictability to the game.
Winning the game is not just about outsmarting other players, but also about outmaneuvering the Magistrate’s scrutiny and timing your victories right. A successful player must maintain a broad strategic overview while still paying attention to the tactical details that could determine victory or defeat.
