Catalyst Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its latest addition to the BattleTech universe, BattleTech: Mercenaries, which has smashed its initial goal of $50,000 within a day of launching. As of now, over $3.6 million has been pledged by more than 13,000 backers.
BattleTech: Mercenaries is a new box set that promises to expand the gameplay of the BattleTech , with over 50 high-quality miniatures, amazing gameplay, and new fiction. Backers who support the project at Recruit level and above will receive a link to the Night at the Lake short story by Michael Stackpole, as well as an Eridani Light Horse wallpaper.
For those who back the project within the first 48 hours, there is an Early Bird Reward: a Salvage Box that includes a Visigoth aerospace fighter for free. Additionally, all backers at the Veteran level and above will receive a free 4” Timber Wolf model.
The Kickstarter campaign also offers backers the opportunity to choose which ForcePacks and swag they want through the pledge manager at the end of the campaign. More ForcePacks and swag options will be unlocked through Stretch Goals.
The BattleTech universe is set in the thirty-first century, where players become MechWarriors, mastering a multi-ton, towering avatar of destruction that is the culmination of over 3000 years of battlefield technology development.
BattleTech: Mercenaries introduces over 50 reimagined designs, including Mechs, armored and support vehicles, a VTOL, additional battle armor, and a new aerospace fighter. All of these are crafted and manufactured to the same high-quality standards and ready to play right out of the box.
With the overwhelming support of over 13,000 backers and millions of dollars already, it will be exciting to see just how high the BattleTech: Mercenaries Kickstarter campaign can go. A free preview can be found on the Catalyst Labs Store.
