Armello: The Board Game Makes a Royal Entrance on Kickstarter
King of the Castle Games Company has launched a Kickstarter campaign for “Armello: The Board Game,” a tabletop adaptation of the popular video game Armello. The campaign has garnered significant support, with pledges reaching US$ 115,993, surpassing the initial goal of US$ 20,000. The funding drive is set to conclude on April 5, with 23 days left for backers to contribute.
“Armello: The Board Game” seeks to transition the digital game’s adventure and strategy elements onto the tabletop. The narrative centers around the kingdom of Armello, whose king is afflicted by a corrupting force known as the Rot, leading to widespread chaos and the rise of corrupted creatures called Banes. Players assume the roles of heroes from the kingdom’s Great Clans, embarking on quests, engaging in battles, and employing strategy to either claim the throne by defeating the ailing king or by accumulating Prestige to win the crown.
The game integrates deck-building elements, with players starting with a unique deck that evolves throughout the game. It also features area control aspects, as players move across the map to claim territories and complete quests. Combat is resolved through dice rolls, with opportunities to gain additional dice and leverage card effects to influence outcomes.
Victory in “Armello: The Board Game” can be achieved through either accumulating sufficient Prestige or by defeating the king in a Regicide Victory. The board game aims to capture the essence of the video game, offering a familiar yet distinct experience for fans and newcomers to the Armello universe.
