Friday Snippets

It feels like a short week, but it’s certainly been a busy week. Yesterday, got pulled aside for a vital project before the A Song of Ice and Fire Miniatures Game Kickstarter launches later this month. That was a cool couple of hours. But yeah, just been busy all-around. Ready for that weekend! Gonna be making some dark-chocolate-orange confections (cookies, candy sticks, and candied orange peel) over the weekend. … Might make some gumbo, too. Haven’t gotten that far ahead. But when making that stuff, I should fill up on some bite-size gaming stories, so I don’t eat all the cookie dough or something.

Today on the platter we have: Red Republic Games Previews Special Arena Rex Dice, Everlasting Wet Palette Coming To Kickstarter, The Board Game Table Mat by Tabletop Companion Now Available, Final Day for DeepWars Kickstarter Campaign, dice.run Dice Rolling Tool Up Online, and Brigade Models release 6mm Combat Cars.

ClawCon Coming To Saint Robert, Missouri This October

I wish it was October. I really do. It’s quite possibly my favorite month. The cool temperature. The beautiful leaves. Plus, it tends to rain a lot (and yes, I realize it’s been raining a lot in Atlanta these past couple days). And if I happened to be anywhere near Saint Robert, Missouri in October, I might stop by ClawCon.

I know I’m getting together with some friends on Saturday for just that sort of thing. I’m sure there’ll be tasty snacks there. Let’s snack on some tasty bite-sized gaming stories now, too.

AcadeCon Gaming Convention Up On Kickstarter

There’s a ton of things that go into running a gaming convention. Trust me, I know. One of the things it takes is money. If you want to book a convention space, have special guests, get special room rates, and have all the tables, chairs, and other million “little things” you need to make a show run, you’re gonna need some funding. That’s what AcadeCon is looking to raise over on Kickstarter. They’re trying to get funds for their 5th year, which will be held in Dayton, Ohio in November.

Thursday Terrain Corner

It’s Thursday. You know, having had Monday off, this week is going by nice and quick. I know I’m looking forward to the weekend. Probably gonna swing by the semi-LGS (seeing as how no two places in Atlanta are closer than about an hour’s drive from one-another, especially since all our roads are either going up in flames or sinking into the ground) to see what’s going on there. But if I am able to make it out there, I’d like the gaming tables to look as good as possible. To help that along, here’s some new terrain stories.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Plastcraft Games Posts Salute Releases, Frost Grave Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, Acheson Creations LLC Releases 2 New 15mm Medieval Products, and War Sands Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame.

Gale Force Nine Looking For Help at Summer Conventions

I have never been to a convention where I wasn’t working for some gaming company. Back in the day, it was Privateer Press, doing things like running Tour of Duty for 40 hours, or Iron Arena (where, among other shifts, I once did a 24 hour shift). Then, of course, once I took over this gig, I was doing TGN coverage at shows. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do at a convention if I wasn’t working it. It’s, honestly, pretty awesome. If you want to see what it’s like to work a show, Gale Force Nine is looking for people to help out at Origins and Gen Con.

Epic Nerd Camp Coming This August

Many of you have memories of your time at some sort of summer camp. While I never went away to one, we did have a 5th Grade Camp thing we went away to for a week during school. Mostly, it was a way to get the kids out of the house for a bit during summer so the parents could get some sanity time to themselves. But what if it’s the parents that want to go to camp? That’s where Epic Nerd Camp comes in.
