Pokémon TCG Previews ‘Scarlet & Violet—Twilight Masquerade’ Expansion

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is set to introduce the ‘Scarlet & Violet—Twilight Masquerade’ expansion, available on May 24. This new addition takes players to the mythical region of Kitakami, featuring over 160 new cards, including multiple appearances by the masked Legendary Pokémon, Ogerpon.

Highlight on Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Among the prominent cards is Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, with artwork by Yano Keiji. This card depicts Ogerpon’s Teal Mask and hints at the character behind it. As a Tera Pokémon, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex is shielded from damage while on the Bench. Its Teal Dance Ability allows it to gather Grass Energy swiftly, enhancing its Myriad Leaf Shower attack, which escalates in damage based on the energy present on active Pokémon.

Iron Thorns ex Offers Strategic Play

Illustrated by PLANETA Mochizuki, Iron Thorns ex can neutralize the abilities of most Pokémon in play, except Future Pokémon, with its Initialization Ability. The Volt Cyclone attack of Iron Thorns ex inflicts significant damage and redistributes attached Energy to other Pokémon, aiding in overall team strategy.

Hisuian Arcanine Portrayed as Powerful and Regal

Illustrated by SIE NANAHARA, Hisuian Arcanine is depicted standing proudly amidst a rugged landscape. It boasts attacks like Proud Fangs, which are enhanced if its teammates are damaged, and Searing Flame, which deals damage and inflicts a Burned condition on the opponent’s Active Pokémon.

Kieran: Flexible Support for Players

The Kieran card, illustrated by GIDORA, provides options for players to either swap their Active Pokémon without a Retreat Cost or enhance damage against specific types of opponent Pokémon, adapting to various game situations.

Festival Grounds: Protective Stadium Card

The Festival Grounds card, created by MARINA Chikazawa, protects all Pokémon from Special Conditions as long as they have any Energy attached, affecting both the player’s and opponent’s Pokémon.
