The Last of Us: Escape the Dark Board Game Available for Pre-Order, Releasing in November

The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, a new board game based on The Last of Us video game franchise, is now available for pre-order. Designed with the Escape the Dark system, the game offers an atmospheric journey where players navigate the challenges of a post-apocalyptic world.

Supporting 1 to 5 players, Escape the Dark allows participants to step into the roles of survivors traveling from a quarantine zone to Jackson. Players encounter narrative-driven chapter cards that present complex scenarios, crafting a survival story filled with choices and tactical planning. Using dice and item cards, players can upgrade their gear and face threats from Hunters, FEDRA agents, and Infected, engaging in both solo and cooperative play modes.

The video game series’ dark universe was also adapted into a Max series, which saw high viewership for its first season in 2023, with a second season planned for 2025. This new board game adaptation was funded on Kickstarter in December 2022, gathering support from 9,701 backers with a total of $1.12 million USD.

The retail edition is set for a U.S. release on November 29 through Asmodee, priced at $74.95. The game includes a game board, six player boards, 154 cards, 68 dice, 94 tokens, and a rule book. It is recommended for players aged 14 and up and has an estimated playtime of 90 minutes.
