Steamforged Games Announces Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game, Set to Launch on Kickstarter in May

Steamforged Games, the UK-based tabletop games studio, has announced the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for its latest project, Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game. Following the success of its original Monster Hunter: World board game, which raised £3.4 million and gained over 20,000 backers on Kickstarter in 2021, Steamforged’s latest adaptation is set to be released later this year.

Inspired by the smash-hit expansion of Capcom’s popular video game, Monster Hunter: World, the new Iceborne board game promises to introduce new quests, gameplay mechanics, and a fresh line-up of monstrous creatures. The board game can be played by 1-4 players who will work together to hunt down giant monsters in a frozen tundra, using weapons crafted from the materials gathered after each successful battle.

Steamforged’s Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game is set to offer new features, including the Iceborne Clutch Claw, which will allow players to engage in hand-to-hand combat with the creatures. The game will also introduce turf wars, which could interrupt battles with unexpected, deadly invaders.

Mat Hart, Co-Founder, and Chief Creative Officer at Steamforged Games said, “We’re beyond excited to continue our journey through the Monster Hunter: World universe. There are many big fans of Monster Hunter on the team, and it’s been a pleasure seeing how positively the first board game has been received as an authentic and faithful adaptation. Now, we’re dedicated to bringing Iceborne to life on the tabletop in a way that does equal justice to the unique experience of hunting monsters through the frozen wastes. Get your Clutch Claws ready!”

The Kickstarter campaign for Monster Hunter World Iceborne: The Board Game is set to launch on May 18, 2023, with further details and previews to be revealed in the coming weeks. The board game is expected to be available in retail stores later this year. Steamforged Games has previously developed tabletop adaptations of video games such as DARK SOULS™, Resident Evil™, and Horizon Zero Dawn™.
