Shanty Hunters RPG Up On Kickstarter

Abstract ship silhouette in black against a teal background, capturing the essence of maritime adventure. The text "Shanty Hunters RPG" is overlaid in bold, stylized letters on the right side, hinting at its Kickstarter origins and inviting intrigue into a world of nautical mystery.

Sea Shanties were designed to help coordinate large tasks on ships, helping everyone get into a regular rhythm when hoisting things all around deck. They could seem to be magical, letting people get large jobs done easily. But what if they actually were magic? Well, in Shanty Hunters, they are. It’s a new RPG that’s up on Kickstarter now.

From the campaign:

The year is 1880. You are sailors and scholars traveling the world’s sea lanes to document the dying art of the sea shanty. Commercial sail is obsolete in the face of steam, and its majesty is fading from the world. Shanties will surely vanish unless someone writes them down. But a wicked spirit doesn’t like shanties falling into the hands of landsmen. It causes the imagery and events from each song to play out on deck, threatening the very ships you sail aboard! Can you anticipate these dangers before they strike? Can you safeguard the ship and her crew? Sing shanties with your friends, then overcome the perils hidden in these wonderful old songs of the sea!

Shanty Hunters is powered by the award-winning GUMSHOE engine.

The campaign is more than 2x funded with 29 days left to go.
