Midweek Snippets

Wednesday already. Granted, for me, it’s usually the day of the week that takes the longest. Not that there’s anything particular terrible that happens on Wednesdays. It’s just the day that seems to go on the longest. Gotta make it up and over that hill and then we can slide back down toward the weekend. “Step by step, you climb the mountain,” such as it were. But when climbing mountains, you need to bring along provisions. In this case, it’s bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: New Cross-Shaped Clear Bases Available From Sally 4th, Dog Centaur Minis Available From Punga Miniatures, Wizards and Lizards Paper Minis Available From Okumarts Games, New Space Corsair Mini Available From Brother Vinni, Overrunners Sci-Fi Minis and Vehicles Up On Kickstarter, and Big Fat Panda Running Gaming Protection Components Kickstarter.

Skirmisher Publishing Releases Ragnarok: Age of Wolves Miniatures Rules

The Norse have their legends and mythologies. They tell of Ragnarok, twilight of the gods, where there’s this great battle, and even Thor and even Odin will slowly die, one by one. But Ragnarok isn’t a fast thing. It takes place over a long stretch of time. And it’s during the opening portions of it where you find yourself in Ragnarok: Age of Wolves, a new miniatures skirmish game from Skirmisher Publishing (seems appropriate). You can pick up your copy now.

Sans Detour is letting you sign up early for your Confrontation Classic box and giving you 3 exclusive minis if you do so.

Friday Snippets

Hey everybody! It’s Friday! Woooooo! Gateway to the weekend, you all know how much I love Fridays. Or, more importantly, Friday evenings (not that work’s terrible, but c’mon! It’s not the weekend!). This evening, I’ll be making some white chocolate & macadamia nut cookies for D&D tomorrow. Probably will grab some snacks to take along as well. Ponyfinder: From the Ashes Adventure Up On Kickstarter

Wars are pretty brutal. They can leave scars in the land and in populations that remain for generations. In the wake of the war between the fey and humanoid races, the land was left scorched and even the sky had been changed. Into this wasteland, groups of creatures that had been on opposite sides realized that it was only by working together that they would survive. That’s where you find yourselves in the new Ponyfinder adventure, From the Ashes. The book is up on Kickstarter now.

D&D Icons of the Realms: Monster Menagerie III Now Available

I’m about to get into a new D&D group. It’s my first 5th Edition game, actually. I’ve already got my character built. I don’t have a mini for it yet. Not really sure I’ve seen one I want to use. Perhaps there’ll be one in the new D&D Icons of the Realms: Monster Menagerie III set. It is available now, so I should go check it out.

Midweek Snippets

We’re halfway through the week, folks (well, those of us that work Monday-Friday, that is). I hope your week is going along well. For mine, I’ve been coming up with a new character for a D&D game starting up soon. I’ve never made a 5th Edition character before, but I’ve made dozens of them for other editions. So it’s a bit of “this is familiar, but not.” I’m doing my best to not accidentally inject 3rd and 4th edition knowledge into 5th, and make assumptions based on those and thus, screwing things up. But I think I’m getting it. But if I’m going to finish this character up, I need to refresh with some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Gravetides Fantasy Naval Fleet Up On Kickstarter, New Ogre Chariot From NonsenseMiniatures, Rebel Minis Releases New Viper Models, and Big Crystal Field Bases Now Available From Tabletop-Art.

Judgement Wave 2 Up On Kickstarter

Long-time readers will know my love for big models. Sure, those 28-32mm minis are fine, but I really like larger figures. I like big minis and I cannot lie. That’s why a game like Judgement gets my attention. The game uses 54mm minis for its game. The first Kickstarter was a success, but like every success, there’s desire for more. Well, that desire will soon be met, as the 2nd Wave of figures is up on Kickstarter now.

Familiars of Terra RPG Up On Kickstarter

Many of you out there have a pet. Some have many. But even with several running around, there’s probably one that you feel “gets you” more than the others. You know that it’s the one you connect with the most. It is, in a sense, your familiar. In Familiars of Terra, everyone has that special connection with their loved familiar. In the game, players take on the role of Seeker, tasked with going around and writing the wrongs and healing the wounds of a long-finished war. The game is up on Kickstarter now.

Slayer’s Frontier RPG Up On Indiegogo

Well-regulated hunting can be a positive factor in the health of a natural population. While that is up for some debate, many conservationists would agree. And when it comes to huge, mythical creatures, the same holds true. And that’s what you’ll be going after in Slayer’s Frontier, a new fantasy RPG based on the 5th Edition system (with various tweaks and changes), where players take on hunters looking to go bag some of the biggest and deadliest game out there. The RPG is up on Indiegogo now.

Ponyfinder: From the Ashes Adventure Up On Kickstarter

Terrible wars tend to have terrible consequences. When the Humanoids and the Fey went to war, it was truly a terrible war. At the climax, the energy that held back the Everglow was unleashed. This wave of primal forces reduced everything it touched to ashes. Very little was spared. In the aftermath, the survivors realized what they had done and hostilities ended, as everyone realized that life was already going to be much tougher in this grey world. That’s where you find yourselves in Ponyfinder: From the Ashes, a new adventure sourcebook that’s up on Kickstarter now.

Both of these are available now, as is a new collection bringing together all the Nazgul minis already released.

Games Workshop Previews From Adepticon

Adepticon is the place for miniatures games. Pretty much every gamer knows that. The event is 4 days of tourneys and events. It’s also a place where miniatures companies make announcements about what they’re coming out with for the year. Arguably the biggest there is Games Workshop’s announcements. Well, we’ve got ’em and now you can read ’em. Long story short: next 3 Codices for 40k (Imperial Knights, Deathwatch, Harlequins), Combat Roster army-building software, Deep-Sea Elves, Age of Sigmar CCG, and several more.

Midweek Snippets

Quite a blustery day here in Atlanta for the middle of the week. Despite being the first day of spring, it seems as though winter is looking to hang on for a little longer. So, even though there’s more light than there is dark now (at least, here in the Northern Hemisphere), we should still stock up on bite-sized gaming stories.

The world is filled with all manner of creatures. Everywhere you go, there’s life thriving. Bringing all those critters to your RPG can be tough. That’s where bestiaries and compendiums come in. Up on Kickstarter now, there’s the SagaBorn Creature Compendium. It’s got 90+ creatures for you to throw at your party (figuratively, unless you also have some sort of creature-launching mechanism… there’s a plot hook if I ever heard one).

Mists of Akuma: Imperial Matchmaker 5th Edition Adventure Up On Kickstarter

You know, I’ve often said that I love pre-made adventures, as they give the GM a lot of resources and can make the game as easy for them as it is for the players to just play it. Usually, they’re good for a level or two, but the Mists of Akuma: Imperial Matchmaker adventure for 5th Edition is here to get your players from 4th to 10th level. Yeah, that’s quite a module. It’s set in the eastern fantasy noir steampunk Soburin setting, and it’s up on Kickstarter now.

The Mermaid’s Blessing RPG Adventure Up On Kickstarter

Pre-made adventures give GMs a ready-to-go group of game sessions. They give you everything you need and you can have a group go through them over the course of several sessions. The Mermaid’s Blessing is a new adventure for 5th Edition that’s up on Kickstarter now. I don’t really think that these mermaids are going to be combing their hair with forks and singing with crabs.

Print Version of Conan The Mercenary RPG Book Now Available

Modiphius likes to give its customers options when it comes to how they want to get their RPG books. Some people are happy with just having a digital version. It’s a solo RPG that’s up on Kickstarter looking to fund a new 2nd edition of the game.

They’ve teamed up with Wizards of the Coast and are releasing official Dungeons & Dragons modules on their platform. You can get the Princes of the Apocalypse module now.
