Warhammer 40,000 Unveils First Battle Report of New Edition, Free for All to Watch

The highly-anticipated new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is set to debut its first-ever battle report, giving fans a first-hand look at the revised rules and game mechanics in action. The report, provided by Battle Report, showcases a face-off between Space Marines and Tyranids, and in an exciting move by Games Workshop, this episode will be freely accessible to all, bypassing the need for a Warhammer+ subscription.

Over the past weeks, there’s been much speculation about the changes and improvements made to the new edition, from modifications in phase changes and army construction to enhancements in Toughness. The Battle Report will not only display these changes but also bring forth an actual mission, offering a real-time and immersive experience for Warhammer 40,000 fans.

The game, played by Si and Ben, utilizes the new Combat Patrol game mode – a balanced, fast-paced rendition of Warhammer 40,000. All miniatures for the game are sourced from the stunning Leviathan boxed set, containing all necessary models for two complete Combat Patrols, complete with bespoke datasheets designed specifically for this game format.

Strike Force Octavius, comprised of veteran Space Marines and pyreblaster-equipped specialists, will be seeking vital intelligence that could aid Imperial efforts against the limitless Tyranid fleets. Clad in Terminator armour, these models will provide an insurmountable challenge for the Tyranids, especially when faced with the roaring flames from the Infernus Squad.

Countering them, the Vardenghast Swarm will bring a range of bioforms into the fray, flooding the battlefield with waves of Termagants, the hulking Psychophage, and the stealthy Von Ryan’s Leapers, while their Winged Tyranid Prime takes a commanding view of the battlefield.

The release also teases the return of Blacktalon, the captivating animated series centered around the eponymous Stormcast Eternal and her team of heroic hunters. The fourth episode of the series will also be accessible through Warhammer+, following the life of a simple fruit farmer in the Mortal Realms who is destined for a dark future.

Today’s Battle Report episode is available on Warhammer TV and the Warhammer Youtube channel.
