The Walking Dead Universe RPG Coming to Kickstarter on March 14

A group of zombies shuffles through a burned-out area, debris and flames scattered around. In the background, a school bus stands as a precarious fortress with two armed figures perched on its roof, aiming at the advancing threat. This chaotic scene could be straight from the Walking Dead Universe RPG.

Free League Publishing, an award-winning tabletop publisher, announced on Monday that it will be bringing The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game to Kickstarter on March 14, 2023. This new tabletop RPG is a co-production between AMC Networks, Genuine Entertainment, and Free League Publishing, and promises to introduce new story elements while drawing inspiration from the current series and upcoming spin-offs.

According to Free League Publishing, the Kickstarter campaign will offer early PDF access to the Core Rulebook of The Walking Dead Universe RPG long before its Fall 2023 retail release. The campaign will be supported by key forces behind the franchise, including Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, Scott M. Gimple, and Head of AMC Networks Publishing Mike Zagari.

In The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game, players will be challenged to enter the unforgiving, post-apocalyptic sandbox and learn how to survive and thrive in this new world order. The RPG promises to push the boundaries of the survival genre, allowing each group to tailor their RPG experience to suit their own interests and play style.

The stakes and stress will be high, as the game boasts a new spin on Free League Publishing’s award-winning Year Zero engine. Players must not only hone their physical skills, but also deeply explore what makes them tick, confronting how the hardships of this world naturally impact what they’re capable of, in the best and worst of times.

The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game is expected to be a hit among tabletop RPG enthusiasts, and is sure to appeal to fans of The Walking Dead franchise as well. With the Kickstarter campaign set to launch in less than a month.
