Tarot-Fueled Science Fantasy RPG “A Fool’s Errand” Now Live on Kickstarter
A Fool’s Errand, a tarot-fueled science fantasy tabletop RPG, is now live on Kickstarter. With a blend of high-stakes drama, esoteric deities, and surreal dreamscapes, the game invites 3-5 players to dive into a world shaped by Androids, Humans, and jealous gods embodied by the Major Arcana of the tarot.
Players take on the roles of Fools, navigating a post-calamity world, where their choices and tarot draws will shape the outcome of the game. The group begins by detailing the “Big Oops,” the catastrophic event that reshaped their world, and each player crafts their Fool with motivations tied to the Major Arcana. As the story progresses, players explore both the waking world and the subconscious realms, where the gods may manifest boons or incite calamities.
Designed for campaigns or one-shot sessions, A Fool’s Errand is heavily inspired by science fantasy worlds like Final Fantasy 7, surreal dreamscapes like those in Paprika, and neo-noir themes from Cowboy Bebop. With tarot-powered mechanics and a focus on collaborative storytelling, the game offers players a unique and immersive experience.
The campaign for A Fool’s Errand ends on November 15. Backers can also check out a free beta version of the game on itch.io.
