RipCrypt Dungeon Sprint RPG Now Live on Kickstarter

ByTGN News Team November 12, 2024November 12, 2024

RipCrypt, a fast-paced, dungeon sprint RPG, is currently live on Kickstarter, seeking to reach its $10,000 funding goal by December 5. Designed for 1 to 8 players, RipCrypt combines a lo-fi aesthetic with accessible mechanics.

Cover of the RPG book "RIP CRYPT!" featuring a stylized green illustration of a skull and robed figure in a glowing circle. Launched on Kickstarter, this Dungeon Sprint RPG showcases Kynan Antos's design, with the back adorned in themed text and cryptic poetry.

Set in the Undergrade—a vast network of aqueducts, crypts, and catacombs—RipCrypt challenges players to navigate hazardous environments, confront lurking dangers, and search for knowledge to ascend to the Overgrade. The game features Keeper-led play with options for solo and player-led modes. Hero creation is quick, requiring only 10 minutes, and gameplay emphasizes fast, streamlined turns with four simple stats for minimal downtime.

The open role-playing game book invites you into its world. The left page details abilities like Grit, Grip, Glum, and Gait, while the right reveals a Dungeon Sprint character sheet with stats and gear on a white cracked background, perfect for any RPG enthusiast.

With no specific classes or races, RipCrypt introduces heroes based on four core attributes—Grit, Gait, Grip, and Glim—that govern various aspects of strength, agility, leadership, and magic. Combat is straightforward and outcome-driven, using a roll-high d8 dice pool system, with location-based damage for a realistic touch.

A detailed, dark stone maze with high, jagged walls and a complex network of pathways stretches across the image. Resembling the eerie terrains of RipCrypt, this Dungeon Sprint RPG setting exudes an ominous appearance, with shadows adding depth and mystery.

The 148-page core rulebook includes a starting delve, detailed cartography by Jeremy Grassman, and illustrations of various adversaries to encounter in the depths of the Undergrade. A premium edition, exclusive to Kickstarter backers, features a black faux leather cover with green foil embossing.

Silhouetted figures explore a rocky cave with a bright opening at the end. The scene is rendered in monochrome, highlighting the contrast between the dark cave interior and the light from outside. The figures seem to be embarking on a mysterious RipCrypt journey, like an immersive Dungeon Sprint RPG.

RipCrypt is designed to provide a quick-to-start, dungeon-crawling experience with streamlined rules and a classic RPG feel. A free 80-page preview of the rulebook is available, offering a look into the gameplay and character creation process.

The lantern emits a soft glow against the dark backdrop, highlighting the detailed armor and weaponry, perfect for showcasing on Kickstarter.
