Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron Surpasses Kickstarter Funding Goal by 500% Within Hours of Launching
Battle Systems’ latest offering, Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron, has already surpassed its Kickstarter funding goal by over 500% within hours of launching. With almost £300,000 in pledges, the long-awaited fantasy dungeon crawler has proven to be a hit with gamers.
Maladum is a fully self-contained game that comes with a 2′ / 60cm neoprene mat covered in Battle System’s award-winning terrain. The game takes place on a highly-detailed 3D board, which is included in the box. Players take on the roles of adventurers, exploring ancient dungeons and abandoned settlements to seek their fortune. Along the way, they must defeat their enemies, complete their quests, and escape with as much loot as they can carry.
The game’s comprehensive campaign system tracks players’ progress from game to game, allowing them to develop their skills, upgrade their equipment, and immerse themselves in their story. A brand-new feature for Maladum is an intricate branching campaign, playable solo or cooperatively. The decisions players make and the objectives they complete will have a knock-on effect on their route across Enveron and the ultimate fate of their party.
Maladum is based on Battle System’s bestselling sci-fi game, Core Space, but has been reworked from the ground up to provide a compelling and immersive fantasy experience. It retains the simple core mechanics, interactive NPCs, and unique ‘real search’ system while seamlessly integrating everything one would expect from a fantasy dungeon crawler, from exotic wandering beasts to all manner of magical powers and weaponry.
Beyond the starter set, the game is fully compatible with Battle System’s existing fantasy terrain range, allowing players to adapt the story to any setting of their choice. Battle Systems has been making tabletop gaming terrain for over a decade and has successful fantasy, sci-fi, and urban ranges available. The dungeon terrain is suitable for D&D and all other 28-35mm fantasy miniatures games and RPGs, and is easy to assemble without any painting required. It is also fully modular, allowing players to assemble endless combinations of walls, floors, accessories, and furniture for a different layout in every game.
The Kickstarter campaign for Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron is offering two pledges. Players can choose the Maladum Kickstarter Edition, which includes everything they need to play the game and more, or the Dungeon Terrain pledge, which includes a multi-level, system-agnostic, modular box of awesome scenery. Those looking for both can select the Combined Pledge, which includes enough terrain and mats to fill a 4’x2′ space, along with bespoke Maladum quests designed for the larger play area.
Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron promises to be an epic new game for gamers and RPG enthusiasts alike, and the overwhelmingly positive response to its Kickstarter campaign suggests that it will not disappoint.
