Kickstarter Campaign Launches for Grimpath: A New Hybrid of Trading Card and Fantasy Wargaming
A new Kickstarter campaign has been introduced for Grimpath, a game that combines elements of traditional trading card games (TCG) with fantasy miniature wargaming. The campaign aims to raise $55,000 and has already secured over $33,092 from 110 backers, with 28 days remaining until its conclusion on March 28.
Grimpath distinguishes itself by offering a gameplay experience that allows players to engage in battles using both custom-built decks of cards and fantasy miniatures, set on any chosen battlefield. The game’s design focuses on providing a platform for players to craft their own narratives and character arcs within a competitive and balanced combat system.
The initial offering includes 25 warlords for players to choose from, enabling the construction of 30-card decks accompanied by detailed miniature figures to represent players’ warbands in gameplay. This setup aims to inspire players to create unique deck and warband combinations, fostering a gameplay environment rich in diversity and strategy.
For business owners, the campaign features a Retailer Pledge option, tailored specifically for stores. This pledge level offers benefits such as discounted pricing, early product delivery, free shipping, and access to all stretch goals. It is available to any retailer with a physical storefront for the duration of the campaign.
The campaign outlines its shipping strategy, focusing initially on specific territories including Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, UK, Canada, and the US. Detailed pledge levels provide a breakdown of shipping costs, which vary by location and include estimates for both within and outside the US.
Grimpath introduces various gameplay formats like Standard, Extended, and Draft & Craft, catering to different playstyles and preferences. Additionally, the game promotes community engagement through the Grimpath Guild Hall, a platform for players to earn experience points, redeemable for rewards and product discounts.
The game encourages strategic deck building around chosen warlords, each offering unique themes and gameplay styles. With the inclusion of five spheres of influence—Shadow, Fury, Nature, Spirit, and Arcane—players can tailor their strategies to suit their playstyle, enhancing the depth and variety of gameplay.
Grimpath also integrates fantasy miniatures, adding a layer of tactical depth to the game. Players are encouraged to collect and customize their miniatures, mirroring the diverse and strategic gameplay found in the card decks.
