INSANIA Brings Horror to Ancient Rome in New Co-op Board Game

ByTGN News Team October 21, 2024October 21, 2024

Insania, an upcoming co-op dungeon crawler from Sievert Games, is preparing for its Kickstarter launch on November 19th. Set in ancient Rome, the game introduces players to a dark and unsettling narrative, incorporating themes of horror, violence, and mature content.

Players will take on the roles of legionaries, gladiators, and oracles as they face nightmarish creatures and navigate challenging scenarios. The game draws some inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s works, particularly in its mythos, which features Ose, a demon from the Ars Goetia. However, Insania builds its own unique narrative, centered on confronting not only physical threats but also mental strain.

One of the aspects that sets Insania apart is its approach to mature content, featuring intense scenes of violence, gore, and morally complex decisions. The game’s creators, Marcelo Saravá and Guilherme Vicino, have designed the gameplay to challenge players with scenarios that may take them out of their comfort zones. These include moments and choices that rarely appear in traditional board games, bringing a unique edge to the experience.

The game’s artwork and miniatures, created by Brazilian artist Brão, are also notable for their bold, mature themes. Insania is designed for adult audiences, and its content reflects that with its emphasis on graphic elements.

In terms of gameplay, Insania offers a more strategic approach compared to other horror board games. Instead of relying on dice rolls or chance, the game features a card-management system, allowing players to make tactical decisions that can impact their success.

Insania launches on Kickstarter on November 19th.
