Double Proficiency Introduces Mycologist’s Primer: A Fungi-Focused Resource for Tabletop Role-Playing
Double Proficiency has introduced Mycologist’s Primer, a new system-agnostic guide focused on magical mushrooms, lichens, and slime molds for tabletop role-playing games.
The book is designed to blend science, folklore, and magic, providing detailed information on 100 species of fungi. It draws inspiration from 19th-century field guides and myths from various cultures.
Each entry in the Mycologist’s Primer includes biological data, foraging tips, and notes on habitat and distribution. Magical properties are also incorporated, making the book a tool for integrating fungi into a variety of role-playing adventures.
Players and game masters can use the content to create quest hooks, items, and plot ideas, with the book offering tools like random mushroom generation tables and adventure prompts.
The Mycologist’s Primer is the third installment in the Natural Worlds Library series by Double Proficiency, following Herbalist’s Primer and Geologist’s Primer.
The Kickstarter campaign for Mycologist’s Primer has currently raised $217,574, far exceeding its initial goal of $10,000. The campaign will run until November 15.
