New Zealand-based Dice Legenz is set to release their fast-paced and comedic Dungeons & Dragons YouTube series, “The Bards of Aratai.”

A deadly potion capable of destroying an entire city is brewing, and it’s up to three quirky bards to save the day—or at least try their best. “The Bards of Aratai” is an upcoming 12-episode fantasy series from Dice Legenz, a Dungeons & Dragons channel based in New Zealand. Each episode will run between 20 to 30 minutes, delivering a fast-moving and action-packed adventure with plenty of humor along the way.

The story centers around three bards: Kalahari Belle (played by Monique Clementson, known for her roles in Rent, the Feed, and Something Rotten), Zozo Cadence (Reylene-Rose Hilaga from Dungeons & Comedians), and Evelyn Havoc (Krystal O’Gorman, also from Dungeons & Comedians). These characters bring a unique blend of musical talent and combat prowess, as they take on a shape-shifting villain who’s using innocent captives to test a deadly potion that threatens the city of Aratai.

The series promises a dynamic blend of music, action, and adventure, as the bards pursue a mysterious messenger and navigate Dice Legenz’s unique setting—a grand walled city filled with seedy underground taverns, glittering mansions, and cozy inns.

Dice Legenz has already completed filming and is now launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the post-production of the series. Fans who back the project can expect a range of rewards, including a campaign setting book to recreate their own “Bards of Aratai” adventures and opportunities to connect with the cast.

The move to YouTube marks a new chapter for Dice Legenz, who initially made their mark on Twitch with live-streamed D&D adventures. “We’re keen to connect with audiences on YouTube, but not a lot of people head there to watch three-hour actual play videos, unless perhaps it’s Critical Role,” says Vahid Qualls, the producer, and Dungeon Master of the series. “So, we’ve created a show that’s much more digestible for a YouTube audience: twenty to thirty minutes of pure fun and action, with tight editing, immersive music, and a sprinkling of visual effects for when spells pop off.”
