Discovery Global Consumer Products, announced today that the Kickstarter campaign for the Adventure Time: The Roleplaying Game will launch later this summer. The forthcoming game, based on the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Cartoon Network series, is set to provide an immersive and accessible role-playing experience for players aged 12 and up.
The Adventure Time: The Roleplaying Game is the first RPG endeavour by Cryptozoic Entertainment, a company widely known for their innovative tabletop games, trading cards, and collectibles. The game incorporates the ‘Yes And’ mechanic, developed in collaboration with Forever Stoked Creative, to facilitate collaborative storytelling and continuous player engagement. By utilizing a unique set of custom dice, this innovative mechanic also determines the outcomes of in-game actions, eliminating the need for complex calculations.
“Adventure Time is one of our favorite properties, so it was the perfect choice for our first roleplaying game,” remarked John Nee, CEO of Cryptozoic. “We are eager for players to immerse themselves in the rich and heartwarming stories of this world, whether they are RPG experts or novices to the genre.”
The game promises a myriad of character customization options, allowing players to blend a variety of abilities to create characters that suit their play style. Alternatively, fans can choose to play as their favorite Adventure Time characters through the use of ready-made character sheets. This flexibility caters to those wishing to embody the series’ iconic characters or to forge their own path in the whimsical Adventure Time universe.
Cryptozoic Entertainment has also teamed up with esteemed designers and publishers to create additional zines and supplements that enable players to incorporate various core rule systems. This exciting collaboration allows fans to explore Adventure Time using alternative popular roleplaying engines, and experiment with an incredible array of optional rules.
