IO Publishing has announced the launch of their latest tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) book, “Why Slay Dragons : When You Could Be FISHING”, a comprehensive guide to fishing for TTRPG worlds. The game has already raised over $50,000 on Kickstarter from a $10,000 goal, with 29 days still left to go, and the campaign ends on May 11.
This TTRPG book is designed to enhance your gaming experience by introducing a brand new fishing system that can be implemented in any 5e system. The book boasts 200+ full-color pages with over 100 different fish to catch. In addition, the book features new races, magic items, equipment, and brand new fishing mechanics.
“Why Slay Dragons : When You Could Be FISHING” takes players on a journey through 10 detailed environments, each with their own fish, custom NPCs, quest hook ideas, and fishing techniques to learn. The book’s fishing system is perfect for any implementation, whether it’s a fully-fledged fishing campaign or an occasional one-off, or even as a downtime activity for players.
The book also introduces new gameplay mechanics, including expanded successes and failures on your checks, as well as alternate advantage/disadvantage rules. Players can even carve their catches into scales, bones, meat, and materials to create brand new items for their 5e adventure.
