Catalyst BoardGames Launches Kickstarter Campaign for “Overlords: In Training”, A Unique Board Game Born from a Neurodivergent Young Creator’s Vision

Catalyst Game Labs, widely known for its tabletop gaming exploits, has taken a new leap with the creation of its board game division, Catalyst BoardGames. Their first exciting venture is the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the board game “Overlords: In Training”. The campaign, currently open, will conclude on June 27, providing ample opportunity for backers to get involved with this unique project.

The man behind this Catalyst BoardGames is Randall Bills, the Managing Developer for Catalyst Game Labs. Known for his contribution to the gaming industry for almost thirty years, Randall has been associated with renowned games such as BattleTech, Leviathans, and the Dungeons & Dragons deckbuilder, Dragonfire.

However, “Overlords: In Training” is something truly special. This isn’t just another game, but a project made by his neurodivergent son, Kenyon. Kenyon began crafting a dynamic universe named the Doodle Realms when he was just ten years old. His passion for drawing and creating led him down a path of developing unique characters and complex universes filled with the strange, the sublime, and the creepy.

His love for drawing was more than just a pastime. It was a way to connect with his teachers and friends and an outlet that allowed him to become the creative and strong 18-year-old he is today. Having had such an impactful journey, Kenyon decided to create a game set in his Doodle Realms creation, collaborating with his father to design the mechanics and draw all of the characters. Almost everything in the game is Kenyon’s creation.

“Overlords: In Training” is an ambitious card game set in the Doodle Realms universe. In this game, players become aspirant Overlords, engaging in combat using the Fighters they’ve acquired, hunting the Giants Deep for Crystalline resources to bolster their options, protecting their bases from destruction, and preparing for the ultimate boss fight at the end of the game. To emerge victorious, players must withstand attacks from other players and defeat the final boss.

The Kickstarter campaign for “Overlords: In Training” is not just about funding a board game but also about sharing an inspiring journey. Randall, Kenyon, and their family want to bring this story to the gaming community, sharing the love, laughter, and connection that tabletop gaming can bring.

As Randall N. Bills says, “From Kenyon and our family to yours, we hope you enjoy his game as much as the magical experience we had bringing it to life.” With 34 days to go, the gaming community now has the chance to back this exceptional project and be a part of an inspiring and heartwarming story.
