    AV:T & Voidstriker miniatures exceed pre-order goal

    May 10th, 2008

Ad Astra Games have announced that they have exceeded their pre-order goals for the Attack Vector: Tactical and Voidstriker miniatures.

    From their announcement:

A last-minute surge of pre-orders not only took the second wave of Attack Vector: Tactical miniatures and the first boxed set of Voidstriker miniatures past their revised goal of 130 orders, but broke past the original goal of 150. Yep, they went all the way to 153 pre-orders (counting each boxed set as three orders). The prototypes will start running in the 3-D digital printer by the 19th; when those are done they go off to the caster. That starts the process of mold-making, and then production.

For the moment, pre-orders remain open, but get them in quickly if you want to take advantage of the free shipping offer (reduced shipping for international customers).

Sci-Fi SkunkWerks to produce Attack Vector starships

    May 6th, 2008

Ad Astra Games have announced an agreement with Sci-Fi SkunkWerks which will see the creation of new Attack Vector spacecraft miniatures.

    From their announcement:

Sci-Fi SkunkWerks, producers of high quality resin starship models and mecha miniatures, is pleased to announce an agreement with Ad Astra Games to produce large scale (1:1500) resin castings of the iconic ships of the Ten Worlds universe, the setting for the award-winning Attack Vector: Tactical game engine.

David Mihail, Sci-Fi SkunkWerks’ president and chief of production, says, “I’m really pleased to have gotten this deal; I’ve always loved the hard science fiction look of the Ten Worlds spaceships—they’re very clearly designed for the space environment, and their ‘form follows function’ aesthetic appeals to me from my time as a ‘Nuke’ mechanic in the Navy.”

“I chose 1:1500 because it’ll allow me to really obsess with the detailing, and there’s nothing else on the market like these ships. While the detail Ken and Charles were able to get on those 1:3,000 pewter minis is impressive, there’s more detail implicit in the game sheets than shows up in the pewter figures. Plus, cast in resin, these should be workable with the Ninja Magic flight adapters for people who want a visually impressive game.”

Check out their website for more information about this agreement.

    Empire vs. Empire: Disloyalty

    May 6th, 2008

Wizards has posted a new Star Wars Miniatures scenario, Empire vs. Empire: Disloyalty, for use with the recently released Legacy of the Force expansion.

    From their website:

It is another time of civil war. The Empire had wrested control of the galaxy from the disintegrating Galactic Alliance when their Sith allies suddenly deposed Emperor Fel by force and proclaimed Darth Krayt the new Emperor. However, Fel escaped and spent the next few years gathering whatever forces remained loyal to him, leading them against the usurpers.

This scenario depicts the earliest days of the new Sith-controlled Empire. Each side regards the other as disloyal, either for failing to support the man or for failing to support the throne. In the days following the Sith takeover, word reaches the upper levels of command that an Imperial military unit loyal to Fel is preparing to escape Coruscant. The Sith must move quickly to stop them — and make an example of them.

We promised we would give you the whole scoop on Leisa, the Chitin and here it is. All her background information, the new painted miniature and even her unique Unit Card all in one pretty article (PDF link).

“The red sandy dunes deepened to a ruddy burgundy as the twilight faded. No artificial structures marred the stark serene emptiness of the Wasteland, which seemed to stretch out forever under the inky black canopy of night. Only the fluttering glow of a gigantic bonfire in the distant valley and the faint wafting echo of incessant, insistent music would warn any unfortunately desert traveller of the rare ritual taking place mere miles away. Approaching, one would find the scene of dark passion, death, and a rite of sacred passage.”

    Coming soon:

    • Skarrd Toxic Father Curwen, the standard miniature.
    • Groundwerks Base Inserts - Lava Slab
    • Skarrd Toxic Cult Faction Card Pack

Scrunt Elite and Commando price decrease

    May 3rd, 2008

Olleys Armies have announced a decrease in the price of their recently announced Scrunt Elite miniatures and Scrunt Commandos.

    From their announcement:

As a result of comments online and by email regards the price of our new 15 Scrunt Elite Guard, we have decided to reduce the price to £2 a mini for 5 or £1.75 a mini for all 15. The same price reduction has been applied to the earlier set of Elite Guard and also on the Scrunt Commandos. Also we are still offering free postage for orders over £25.

As everyone knows the metal prices have all been going up lately, infact the metal we have our minis cast in now costs the same as silver did a couple of years ago. We needed to increase our prices to keep our profit margin, but what with all the other increasing costs in life we perfectly understand why gamers don’t want to pay more for their minis. So instead we have kept our prices as low as makes sense to us, but because of the smaller profit margin will not be supplying shops anymore but only selling direct from our website.

    From their announcement:
Majestic Twelve Games is proud to announce the release of Hammer & Claw, the newest supplement for Starmada: The Universal Game of Starship Combat.

The claw, bloodied, represents war. On seven occasions the Grumm have encountered those that are not Grumm, and three times they have parted in peace. Four times Grumm have died, and those who mourned have called for the Assemblage, claws unsheathed. Before, the enemy was excised, without pity or hate. The Grumm are the children of war, but they take no joy from killing. It is a tool, applied as all others are applied, to secure tomorrow. Those who threatened the future died, whether in their ships or on the ground, until they posed no threat. They were reduced so that, as under the Law, the Grumm need not fear them for the span of ten thousand litters.
