Graal Miniatures Prepares Kickstarter Launch for Roman Army Range
Graal Miniatures, founded by 3D artist Quentin Renaud, officially launches on September 1st, 2026. The company’s first project is a Late Roman Republic army set in the late 2nd century BC, focusing on the legions of Gaius Marius during the wars against the Cimbri and Teutones.
The range will be released through a Kickstarter campaign titled “Marius’ Mules: Legend of Rome,” scheduled for October 2026.
Unlike some crowdfunding projects that launch with only digital concepts, Graal Miniatures has already sculpted and printed a significant portion of the army. Several miniatures have been painted and are available for viewing, allowing potential backers to see physical products before committing.
The miniatures are produced in 32mm Heroic Scale and designed as a complete wargaming army featuring legionaries, cavalry, auxiliaries, officers, and historical characters. The collection emphasizes modularity, offering varied poses and equipment options to reduce repetition across units.
The company has partnered with miniature painter Grichka, who has painted several models from the first collection.
Graal Miniatures is offering two ways to access their products:
- Physical miniatures through the Kickstarter campaign and future website sales
- STL files via a Patreon called The Scriptorium, focused on exclusive characters and warlords
The Patreon launches in September 2026 with initial releases including Quintus Servilius Caepio, Marcus the Aquilifer, and Lucius Cornelius Sulla.
The brand has already sponsored the Italian Grand Melee 2026 and plans to support the French Grand Melee in September 2026, both events connected to the SAGA wargaming community.
The Kickstarter campaign will include stretch goals that expand the Roman forces and potentially introduce other ancient peoples.
From 2027 onward, Graal Miniatures intends to explore additional armies and civilizations, with Gauls and Germanic peoples under consideration. A 75mm Prestige collection for painters and collectors is also being developed.
