The Wargames Illustrated website has been updated with eight new articles.

Wargames Illustrated Issue 287
In stores from 27 August is Wargames Illustrated issue 287; this issue’s theme is the American Civil War. It also includes a wide range of other articles that are sure to provide inspiration for any wargamer.

An Invitation To The American Civil War
Just over three years ago, Neil Smith provided us with a series of articles about the things he had discovered about the American Civil War after moving to the US from Scotland to study the conflict.

Battle Of Mechanicsville: Regimental Fire and Fury Scenario
As part of our ACW theme articles in WI287, Rich Hasenauer provided us with this scenario for Regimental Fire and Fury. Included are the Fire and Fury Order Of Battle tags to get your game under way.

Berkley Vale Wargames Club: ACW Game
Michael Johnson, of the Berkley Vale Wargames Club, sent us a swathe of photos from a recent Black Powder ACW game they hosted. We thought you should see them too.

Reviews: September 2011
This month’s reviews include the books Exodus from the Alamo: The Anatomy of the Last Stand Myth by Phillip Thomas Tucker, Crimea by Orlando Figes and A Magnificent Disaster: The Failure of Market Garden, The Arnhem Operation September 1944 by David Bennett.

How To Build A South East Asian Hut: The Plans
Inspired again by Battlefront’s recent release of the Flames Of War: Vietnam range, Paul Davies built quite a few Vietnamese huts (and other accoutrements of village life) for WI287.
