As I’ve stated before, I’m a big fan of martial arts movies. As such, I love taking that sort of thing and playing it on the tabletop. A favorite RPG character I’ve had was Chuck, the Minotaur Monk, in a 4th Edition game. However, Chuck never really felt “at home” in the game. He was the odd bull out. I wanted an entire rpg with that sort of stuff in it. Well, such a thing exists in the form of Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate, a new wuxia-themed RPG that’s available now.
The game uses its own system and setting. The system’s based on Song Dynasty China, along with various wuxia movies and drama series. Using the game rules, you’ll be able to learn various martial arts techniques, get skills in brewing potions (both helpful and harmful), and become a stealth master (if you so choose). As you travel the world, you’ll come across bandits, demon animals, corrupt officials, and martial arts masters as you work on your own quest of ultimate control of martial arts.
The book’s pay-what-you-want. So go check it out now.
