Turn Key is a new interactive board game set in a steampunk world. They’ve got a Kickstarter campaign going on. Check it out.

From the campaign:

Board games have taken a turn for the mundane in recent years. The concept of a true adventure game has been lost since games like Nightmare and Jumanji. Turn•Key is a traditional Trouble causing game with a twist.

Over the course of the game, the players will battle each other’s guild, take on dangerous missions alongside a cast of characters, gather resources, and eventually take the Treasure of the Century.

And best of all, the configuration of the map you’re following changes every time you play.

They lost me at “Board games have taken a turn for the mundane in recent years.” Say what? It’s the freakin’ Renaissance of board gaming right now. Then citing “Jumanji” as a true adventure game? Sure, I expect that it is a better game than “Barbie: Queen of the Prom” or “Whose Underwear am I Sniffing?” but an adventure classic? Might as well have just written, “I don’t play a lot of board games, but judging by the selection at Walmart, I bet the KISS DVD board game is nowhere near as good as Nightmare was.”
