Totem – A Narrative Horror RPG of Spirits and Hauntings on Kickstarter
Officina Meningi’s latest project, Totem – The Spirits’ RPG, is now available on Kickstarter. This narrative-driven, horror role-playing game offers a rules-light system that draws inspiration from ghost story classics like Poltergeist, Paranormal Activity, The Ring, Insidious, and Silent Hill.
Players take on the roles of Seekers, navigating haunted locations in search of clues to exorcise spirits and uncover the mysteries behind otherworldly entities. The Game Master (GM), acting as the Spirit, introduces supernatural challenges, using simple mechanics like the Coin of Destiny and Spirit Board to create a collaborative storytelling experience.
The game encourages players to sketch maps of the haunted sites they explore, adding a unique visual element to the horror setting.
The game’s streamlined rules make it ideal for one-shot sessions lasting 2-3 hours, with 2-6 players, including the GM. Totem focuses on narrative and atmosphere, prioritizing player interpretation over complex mechanics.
Totem – The Spirits’ RPG also includes several Kickstarter-exclusive accessories, such as a laser-engraved Spirit Board, a custom metal Coin of Destiny, and Seeker’s cards for quick reference during gameplay.
As of now, the campaign has raised $24,468 from 383 backers, surpassing its $10,925 goal. The Kickstarter ends on October 18, with four days remaining. Early Bird rewards have expired, but a second wave of exclusive rewards is available until October 15.
