The Infinity Gate is running a Kickstarter campaign for their post-apocalyptic car combat game they’re calling Road/Kill.
From the campaign:
Road/Kill is the tabletop miniatures strategy game where horsepower meets firepower! For 2-5 players, it can be played in under 1 hour.
I have to say this looks pretty damn cool. I backed the first project and then they decided to reboot.
I’m glad they did. This game looks pretty cool, as do the little car miniatures….that are customizable. Just a really great idea, and I hope it does well.
It’s does look pretty awesome. After that first background intro, I was waiting for Iggy Pop to say, “This is Black Sunshine”
Wasn’t there another one like this on KS recently? But it’s this creator’s first project. It seems so similar, both in the description and the photos but I can’t find that other project.
The other thing that’s shady about this on is all the text — i mean like 90% of the it, is on an image. It’s one thing when CMON puts a bunch of images up for stretch goal text or addons, but at least they have the decency to use system text on the pages.
This was attempted before but the kickstarter failed from what I remember. This is a reworking of the original attempt with new features, like being able to swap out parts to customize the vehicles.
That’s sort of my concern — this is presented with either a new account or whatever, but when you click on their profile it does not show the past unsuccessful project. And along with the whole text in image asset deal, just seems like they are being evasive or preparing to pulled all traces of the project should things not work out.
The reason for that is that they just launched Kickstarter in Canada.
The creator is from Ottawa, so the first time he launched the campaign it was from the USA. The second time was the new Canadian kickstarter, so its not showing you the old project.
FYI, the difference is primarily financial… apparently you have to have US bank accounts to receive funds from the US kickstarter, which is a hastle for non-US project creators.
Looks like a super complicated version of ThunderRoad. Love the idea of customizing the car models.
I like the look and would be interested in getting some vehicles to use in Epic, but those prices are far, far more than I’m willing to pay for that.
Really REALLY cool.
I had a chance to play a demo of this game, its freaking AWESOME.
Even with the premade cars in the demo, we ended up playing differently each game.
So far, I’ve played the “Cat and Mouse” and “Death Race” scenarios… both really cool.
One of the games, two of the players decided to play chicken on a jousting run. The first player killed his opponent’s driver, but couldn’t get out of the way of the car hurtling down the track, so he got insta-killed in the explosion.
