It's almost a right of passage. Every gamer really should, at some point, watch The Gamers by Dead Gentlemen Productions. Even if you're not specifically into fantasy RPGs, it takes a nice look at our gaming culture. The subsequent films are good, too (though I have to admit, I've only seen the first sequel, but I'm told the others are great). They're looking at making another movie, but along with this one they're also making a board game to go with it.
Cyber: Run is a new, cooperative strategy board game that seats 1-4 players. It sounds very NetRunner/Nakimura Tower and such like that, in that players are in the headquarters of a megacorporation, trying to elude the company's security forces while they hack computer systems for vital information. The game gets progressively harder as more security (both real and electronic) continue to show up in reaction to your character's actions. So speed is vital, but you have to make sure you finish your objective, or all will be for naught. The game, though all that sounds very serious, continues the tongue-in-cheek humor stylings that one would expect from a product based on The Gamers.
The campaign is up now and is set to run for another 28 days.
