Wow, as badly boxy and undynamic as those are, I did not think they’d have that many pieces to assemble.

I am not up on the newest Space Marine rules.. and I don’t know if these things are really good or whatever… but man those are fugly.

  • GrimDog

fugly but as expected they are really good rules-wise

Well… My interest in 40K had pretty much died already but any interest that would have been left would have been killed, cut to pieces, re-assembled and brought back to life through unholy means, then killed again with the release of these models.

I never had a Space Marine army but at least I liked the imagery and the idea for them, but this… This is just… These are the worst models I have ever seen.

Oh the hyperbole! Obviously you weren’t around for the aborted Corpse Hammer KickStarter. 🙂

      • Soulfinger

No . . . Corpse Hammer had the most awesome models ever. The only problem was that they weren’t cast in METAL!

But yeah, saying these are the worst ever is like drinking a special blend at Starbucks and spitting it into the barrista’s face because you forgot what truck stop coffee tasted like twenty-some years ago when all coffee was truck stop coffee. For “worst ever seen” I have some 1983 TSR figures that I would like to introduce you to.

There are some Chaos Possessed that come to mind as being worse..
To me the problem with these lay in the concept. Marines in really tough armor already existed.. they are called Terminators. I don’t care if these “do” something different than Terminators.. the original concept behind them is flawed. If they wanted to do something like this it should have been some sort of Terminator armor platform. A box of 3 of these is almost 80 bucks.. so hell they might as well be Dreadnoughts. While I have recently started updated my dust-gathering GW armies, I will not be adding these.

      • Soulfinger

But there was no great intermediary between terminator and dreadnought, just as the Eldar Wraithwhatever filled that gaping chasm between Wraithguard and Revanant Titans/Knights. Now all we need is something bigger than a snotling but smaller than a gretchin and an ork dreadnought with three arms to fill the gap between Killa Kans and Deff Dreads.

        • 4tonmantis

lol, but we need something between Stompa and DethDread.. and probably something between Nob and Biker Nob. Oooh.. while we’re at it.. Orks in almost mega-armor! (soopa mega armor would be hawt too)

          • 4tonmantis

Now that I think about it.. I am slightly pissed that instead of producing new sculpts and models for stuff in codexes that doesn’t presently have models (ie a huge portion of the Ork army) they are creating shiny new power-armor crap. This is one of the reasons that I had forgotten about that pushed me away from GW in the first place..

I wish that you didn’t live several states away. I’d love to show you some very affordable and easy conversions for making those models with predominately GW and . . . uh . . . Lowes components. That’s the great thing about orks. The conversion work is what got me back into the hobby.

          • PICTURES!!!! Please! 🙂 Love watching people get creative.

          • 4tonmantis

I’m in California these days.. when I joined it was Virginia… not sure if you knew that.

I also have a massive ork horde.. including a Braincrusha style BW (indcludes shingled roof and lookout tower)… It’s things like the buggies and trakks that are literally from last century that piss me off. I’ve had some success kitbashing those and there are some amazing models by other companies but it’s really crappy of GW to kick them to the curb.. and Meganobs need new sculpts too. That said, I would be interested in seeing your conversions.. dunno if you have a gallery anywhere or anything..

Been one step ahead of GW for some time now. I’m holding onto my son’s firetrucks. When he gets older, we’ll put some old marine heads on the front roof, paint the whole things blue (except for the lights), put a white omega symbol on it, and done!

Working sirens and everything! We’ll show up at Gamesday where they are selling the exact same thing we brought for about three thousand dollars to fans who insisted we were all ‘just too negative.’ And we’ll be hollering while we play, “Wooo! Wooo! Fire truck!”, rollin’ over your necrons or whatever.

They keep trying but still not as cool looking as a Man O’ War.
