How're your reflexes? How's your perception? If they're both highly tuned, then you'll do well at Snaggit, a new card game that's available from Yay Games. Playres must grab the right cards from the center of the table, but only grab the ones they need. Everyone's going to be trying to get the best ones, so you have to be quick.
From the announcement:
SNAGGIT is available now in a Limited Edition of 300 in a tin with a free YAY Games Badge. It was launched on the 6th April at UNCON 5.0 in Broadstairs in Kent. SNAGGIT is quick, delightfully simple and brings a new angle to speed reaction games. Each round 6 cards are placed in a circle and using one hand, you have to snag as many cards as you can that fit the current challenge. This can be matching the habitat or movement of the animal card, or not. Or in a 'call out' challenge you have to snag an animal and declare what about it is the 'biggest', 'quickest' or 'strongest'. But get it wrong and you lose that card and another from your hand. Fast, funny and very silly, SNAGGIT is the fifth YAY Game!

Yay Games is running a Kickstarter campaign for Ominoes, their dice game set in ancient Egypt *Imperial march starts playing* Nonono, it's cool. No evil here. Anyway, throw your support behind one of four Egyptian gods and roll the dice, looking to collect sets of your chosen god.
In the game, you'll roll your dice that have the sides of Ra, Horus, Apep, or Khepri (in terms of gods), and Yay-ra and Ominotep, which will let you move other dice or reroll, respectively. You're looking to collect sets of your chosen type, having those sets in the right place on the board in order to score points. Each turn, you'll roll a die, move a matching die of that type on the board, and then add the die you rolled to the board.
The Kickstarter campaign is over their funding goal by just a bit. So it's looking to get through as many stretch goals as they can in the next 6 days (yeah, this one doesn't have much time left on it).

It's another Saturday and that means another Review Roundup. Hopefully you're having a good one. I'm working on putting together some Guild Ball minis.
Anyway, let's get right into the reviews.
Today we have: Parade, Incan Gold, X-Wing's Eighth Wave of Expansions, Booze Barons, Kakerlaken Poker Royal, Tsuro digital app, Pingo Pingo, Raptor, Hue, Battlecruisers, Celesta, Colt Express: Horses and Stagecoach Expansion, Super11, Quadropolis, Ominoes, Curse of Strahd, and Imperial Settlers: Why Can't We Be Friends Expansion.
ou know double-yolk eggs? Those rarest of treasures that whisper “It’s all going to be ok” up from the pan? Well, today you get a double-review! Enclosed within the brittle shell of this article are not one, but TWO of the greatest card games we’ve ever played, full of fatty fun and caloric goodness.
Please ensure your credit card is secured in your official SU&SD fast-draw holster before continuing. We're serious. These games are very, very good.
As of March, the latest round of expansions for Fantasy Flight's enormously popular spaceship miniatures game, X-Wing, is finally and fully here. The first - er - wave of Wave 8 arrived in December, so a few of these ships and cards have had longer to bed in than others. Even so, it's time to round the lot of them up and force them to answer hard questions, like: WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE GAME? WHY ARE YOU NICE? WHY DO I FEEL COMPELLED TO OWN YOU? And: IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE FOR THE SAME WAVE TO ARRIVE TWICE? WOULD THAT NOT MAKE IT TWO SEPARATE WAVES, LIKE, IN BOTH A MARITIME AND A PHILOSOPHICAL SENSE?
The answer to that last one is evidently 'yes', by the way. Haha! Eat it, Heraclitus!
Booze Barons is a quick, team-based hidden identity and deduction game set during U.S. Prohibition where you are bootlegging a particular type of booze and secretly delivering it to speakeasies all over the city. Each time you make a delivery, you get a coin, but also reveal information about the type of booze you are bootlegging. Expose bootleggers of opposing mobs and help those who are in your mob since the mob with the most coins at the end wins!
Kakerlaken Poker Royal is the European successor to the popular bluffing game, Kakerlaken or Cockroach Poker. It’s designed by Jacques Zeimet and published by Drei Magier Spiele. It can expose the cracked relationships of between 2 and 6 people, in just under half an hour.
Lay out the big blind, adjust your mirrored shades and outright lie to your friends to get into the mood for our review.
The first thing you notice upon opening the Tsuro app is the slick 3D animation. Great care has been made to replicate the tactile experience of the physical version and give the visuals some gravitas. There is no immediate menu, no list of options. You literally open the game box to get things going. The board smoothly flies out and unfolds, the tiles float into a neat stack, and the dragon tokens slide into view. You can even see the creases in the board from the fold. There’s a solid attention to detail here.
Pingo Pingo is a slapjack variant. Yes, a slapjack variant. As in if slapjack was actually fun and on steroids. Sure I could label it a real-time, dexterity game if some OCD gamer insisted upon categorizing such things. But essentially you’ll be slapping cards, shooting up the room with darts, running around, laughing, screaming, moaning, cursing and generally belittling each other for fifteen minutes. Categorize that! Simply put, you don’t play many board games like this. Or if you do, then I want to hang out with you!
The best word I can find to describe Celestia is ‘delightful’; maybe even 'whimsical', how about delightfully whimsical. Celestia, a reprint of Cloud 9 with a slight re-theme and much better art, is a game of pushing your luck while navigating floating islands and searching for treasure.
But it's a dangerous journey, and you'll have to fend off pirates and murderous flocks of birds as well as the machinations of the fellow crew.
Recently I reviewed one of my favorite action programming games, Colt Express. Set in the Old West, Colt Express pits players against each other as they try and rob a passenger train. As with any action programming game, Colt Express is filled with a good amount of excitement and plenty of chaos.
Recently, the designer of Colt Express decided to head back to the locomotive and bring us an expansion. Enter Colt Express: Horses and Stagecoach. As you might have guessed, this expansion brings horses and a stagecoach to your Colt Express game. How does it work well with the base game? Time to find out!
Curse of Strahd is Ravenloft for 5th Edition Dungeon and Dragons. This module revisits this classic adventure and gives you ways to add more horror to your current campaign.

And we've made it back to Sunday. At least for me, the day to get stuff done around the apartment and prep for the oncoming week. I might get in some electronic gaming later on, though. Hey, you can't make it out to the LGS every day (try as some might). ;)
Since it is Sunday, we've got some bite-sized stories for you, as usual.
In this batch is: HS Stencil System - Wave 2 - from Anarchy Models on Kickstarter, New render for Wild West Exodus, Dragonborn - Symphonic Album for Table RPGs on Kickstarter, Another World Miniatures: Magnus The Witchhunter Is Online, Tabletop Adapters releases unique 32mm Adapter, Yay Games To Release Sandcastles at Essen, Vengeance Oct Releases Posted, and The Book of Starry Wisdom: Apocrypha of Lovecraft's Cthulhu on Kickstarter.
Thanks to our wonderful backers last year, our campaign for wave 1 of the HS Stencil System was a great success, and they have proved very popular since too.
We always get asked by our customers/fans if we can add this or that to the range. In particular, many of you wanted more Creature Feature designs, as the Mottled is VERY popular and you also wanted some smaller scale grids.
So we have come back to Kickstarter again this year to add some of the most asked for designs to the range, as well as some others, funding/time permitting.
Nominated for Hollywood Music in Media Awards for her CD “Legends: Fantasy Violin”, violinist and composer Julia Okrusko is working on her new release, “Dragonborn: Fantasy Symphony”. The Kickstarter funds will cover recording, mixing, mastering, cover design, and the manufacturing of the discs.
This symphonic album will be produced ombining the traditional musical language and techniques with fantasy elements, themes, and sounds. The inspiration for this work came from Skyrim, video game world of fantasy with incredible gaming aesthetics and profound mythology. The power and missions of the main character, Dragonborn, became the inspiration for this work, Symphony No.1 in D minor "Dragonborn". The symphony is in 4 movements, each featuring different atmosphere and characters, that are united through motives, rhythms, and themes to create a symphonic portrait of Dragonborn and the external and internal realities of being immersed in the world of fantasy.
Back in march, Tabletop Adapters released a kickstarter campaign for a unique 32 mm adapter. This adapter is now available for purchase. The adapter can be used to extend the base of a 25 mm miniature. It works by having a large surface buttom where the miniature can rest upon. It enables the base to be fit firmly, or to be temporarily fit with a sticky material. The adapter is easy to use and comes at a great price. The same kickstarter deals are available right now.
Gamers sometimes complain about games having the same old themes (don’t mention Zombies) or that a theme has just been plastered onto a game. These are not statements that could be laid at the feet of up and coming British board game publisher YAY Games.
Following on from the cult success of Frankenstein’s Bodies, a highly thematic game about building your very own “creature” out of spare body parts, YAY are set for the international launch of Sandcastles.
“We are hoping that folks at Essen really take our latest brain child into their hearts. In Sandcastles you are on a beach trying to build the best sandcastle you can before the big wave comes crashing in." Says Andrew Harman YAY Games chief creative.
He goes on to warn in a tongue in cheek way. "Don’t get too comfortable playing in the sand though because the other players could be planning on using crabs, seagulls of their own buckets to kick over your glorious creation and steal your sandy glory!”
Sandcastles is a very portable tile placement game for 1 to 7 players and lasts around 30 minutes. If you’re looking for a game to take on holiday to play with your family, look no further
YAY Games are getting a reputation for producing games with interesting themes that are easy to learn and pack in a lot of interaction. They can be found at booth 2E-121 at Essen.
The Book of Starry Wisdom compiles newly edited editions of H.P. Lovecraft’s public domain cycle of Cthulhu stories, edited and produced by myself, Simon Berman, and illustrated by renowned deific and fantasy artist, Valerie Herron (The Book of the Great Queen).
Accompanied by essays and musings by some of today’s premiere Lovecraftian scholars, writers, and devotees, The Book of Starry Wisdom will be a luxurious, approximately 192 page hardback tome, featuring a leather textured cover with gold foil pressed symbols of significance to the Cult of Cthulhu, 13 interior B&W illustrations, as well as other features to be unlocked as the Kickstarter meets its stretch goals. This premium volume will be a stunning addition to the library of any enthusiast of H.P. Lovecraft or worshipper of Dead Cthulhu Who Lies Dreaming.

Saturday night's alright for fighting... your enemies on the tabletops around the world! Hopefully you're doing that, anyway. I've got various whatnots I'm working on at home, one of which is spring cleaning. Joy of joys. But hey, it means next weekend I can have a game day here and not worry about people thinking that an actual bear lives in this place.
Anyway, until then, we've got our regular series of collecting up all the reviews we found over the past week and presenting them to you.
This week's reviews/previews include: Cog 'O' Two Paint and Hobby Station, D&D Miniatures: Elemental Evil Booster, Fallen by Watchtower Games, Five Points: Gangs Of New York By Mayfair Games, Sandcastles Kickstarter, Lost Cities Card Game, Dungeon Dwellers, War of Kings, Super Fantasy Rumble, Black & White, Animal Upon Animal, Tide of Iron, Legion of Honor, and Star Wars Armada.
Finding space to assemble and paint your models can be tough! Today’s review looks a compact paint/hobby station from Cog ‘O’ Two which keeps all you need for the hobby in one place, and can be moved or stored away when not in use. Cog ‘O’ Two specialise in laser-cut products which include wargaming templates and tokens, plus accessories for steampunk enthusiasts.
Our addiction to pre-painted D&D miniatures continues! This time we’ve picked up 8 booster boxes from the recently released Icons of the Realms: Elemental Evil range which is the second set of Dungeons and Dragons miniatures released by WizKids. These collectable miniatures tie into the Elemental Evil storyline in which 4 elemental cults of immense power must be stopped from unifying under the Elder Elemental Eye. After reviewing the first set of these miniatures (see our Tyranny of Dragons Review), we’re eager to see how set 2 builds on the range, so join us as we open up some boosters and have a look through the set.
Dungeon Dwellers is a fantasy adventure card game that requires strategy, cooperation, and cunning. This game is recommended for 2-4 players. Each player will take on the role of an adventurer seeking gold. Along the way, adventurers will gain treasure, magic items, abilities, and level increases by defeating monsters within the dungeon. The winner will be the player who collects the most gold at the end of the game.
In War of Kings, you will assume the role of one of the rival kings. Immediately, you will be faced with decisions on every round of play about how best to expand your realm. During the Construction Phase, in which all players play simultaneously, you will generate resources, collect gold, build settlements, fortify them, and raise armies. The combat system provides many opportunities for tactical and strategic decisions. Wage war with our custom combat dice using a mechanic that engages both the attacking and defending player. You must also contend with the Maladorian Marauders, an evil horde controlled by a card-based mechanic that allows the players to decide how best to wreak havoc on the other kingdoms of Arowyth.
Super Fantasy Rumble is a tactical skirmish card game with a puzzle-like Battle mechanic. Your goal is to lead your randomly drawn Rumble Fighters to eliminate all your Opponent’s Rumble Fighters. The Rumble Fighters and art style is inspired by 80s Saturday Morning Cartoons and video games that we all love.
Black&White is a two-player block war game that takes place on a hexagonal board that may be customized by terrain tiles. Before the game, each player builds his army using available troops and also assigns the leader. Each side of the conflict has nine different units from which to choose. The choice is not simple, however, as only a proper balance between various types of infantry, cavalry and artillery will make for a strong army.
Animal Upon Animal is a stacking game for 2-4 players that plays in about fifteen minutes. In my experience, the game plays well with 3-4 player counts.
Today, we will be looking at Tide of Iron. The game is a modular war game set in World War II that was originally released by Fantasy Flight games back in 2007, and recently licensed to 1A Games to produce the second edition of the game; Tide of Iron: Next Wave and future expansions. I have had the chance to play with both versions of the game and will give my thoughts on the two versions in addition to our normal review. I have a lot to cover so let’s get to it!
Tide of Iron is a modular war game for 2-4 players to play in around 2 hours. In my experience the game plays best with 2 or 4 players.
This is Legion of Honor, the card game of career soldiering in Napoleon's Grand Armee. Except that really it's more of a competitive role-playing, story-telling game with cards. Think Tales of the Arabian Nights, if you took away the Rocs and Sorcerers and replaced them with garrison duty and overbearing Sergeant-Majors.
We played Star Wars: Armada, Paul! Fantasy Flight’s new game in the style of their hugely popular X-Wing Miniatures game. Everyone can read our first impressions of X-Wing here and watch our comprehensive review here, but to summarise, we love X-Wing. This week, with the release of Star Wars: Armada, Fantasy Flight is offering something more grand. The same collectable, pre-painted Star Wars ships, but this time they're fighting on a much, much more epic scale.

'Frankenstein's Bodies' is a very interactive board-based card game for 2-6 players lasting 50-70 minutes. In the game you play surgeons aiming to create the finest bodies from the parts (cards) available. Points are gained for bodies that are made from parts matched for serum colour and gender. But it's more than a straight race to stitch parts together. Players can surgically remove parts from each other. But there is a risk of having these 'infected' and so become worthless. Master Surgeons can be brought in who offer extra expertise (points) and prevent other player's 'Surgery'. The game ends when one player has completed two bodies, or the draw deck runs through twice.
