Roolex. Versachee. Sorny. Magnetbox. The world of counterfeiting might seem funny at the outset, but it's a real issue in the world. And as the gaming industry has expanded, the chance for scammers to make some quick money on cheap, knock-off versions of popular titles is certainly there. ICv2 recently sat down with execs at Asmodee, one of the biggest gaming companies out there, and asked them about what effects counterfeiting has had on them, and on the industry, in general.
From the interview:
Earlier this fall, we visited the Roseville, Minnesota headquarters of game giant Asmodee North America and conducted a series of interviews with Asmodee North America CEO Christian Petersen and Asmodee CMO Steve Horvath. In this interview on the exploding problem of counterfeiting in the games business, we talked about the size of the problem, the impacts, and the dangers.

The Doctor Who television series has enthralled millions over the decades. We've got two games based on it coming this year. Warlord Games is making a miniatures game that has a lot of players excited. But details have been few and far between so far. Well, to fill in some of those gaps as the release date gets ever-closer, Warlord Games has been talking with designer Paul Sawyer about it.
Q. What made you decide to make the figures larger than 28mm?
There were a number of factors. From the start, we wanted our figures to appeal not only to tabletop gamers but also to Doctor Who fans and collectors. This led us down the route of producing photo-realistic models as Whovians outside of the gaming world wouldn’t appreciate the usual big head, ham fists and short legs on traditional wargames figures. When you’re paying a licence, you want to make sure you replicate the look of the subject matter rather than caricature and exaggerate them.

It's a hot day here in Atlanta. Summer certainly has set in (it actually set in a couple weeks ago, but it is Atlanta, so waddyagonnado?). Makes me look forward to autumn. But thankfully, I can sit in this... somewhat-air-conditioned part of the building where my desk is... and listen to some gaming podcasts, dreaming of cooler temperatures.

I caught up with Jason Hardy at Origins 2016. Jason is the line editor for Shadowrun. Jason brought me up to speed on his novel, a few others, all of the shadow titles, a push your luck SR dice game, and we talked about the tarot deck. Oh did I mention Munge? I think that's the right spelling.

Over the weekend, as I'd mentioned, I inventoried and took photos of a lot of old gaming stuff I'm going to be selling. I... am not good at painting. Even when I was doing it a lot, I wasn't really better than "randomly throwing paint around." Too bad I never read Figure Painter Magazine back then. Maybe my figures being painted wouldn't seem as a liability anymore when trying to sell them. No, if I knew all the tips and tricks from inside those pages, the models would probably be worth a lot more. Well, Issue 34 of the magazine is out now. I should read it so I can get better so the new figures I get will look a lot better.
This issue has a lot going on. There's an interview with Diego Esteban where he talks about his painting as well as HeraModels. Of course, that's not the only interview, as there are others with Dave Heathfield, Sebastian Archer, and Peter Overton. There are unboxings of figures from Armoured Syndicate, Figone, Young Miniatures, and several more. Rounding it all off, there's several tutorial articles, including by painters such as Sergey Popovichenko, Sergey Chasnyk, and other people who are not named Sergey.

I think all of us could stand for some bite-sized gaming stories just about now. So let's get to it.
Today we have: Red Box Games Launch Warbands of the Cold North Kickstarter, Kings of War unofficial historical supplements updated for Kings of War 2nd edition, and New White Wolf Interview.
Kings of War always lent itself to an exceptional historical gaming experience, and the latest 2nd edition rules are no exception! The Kings of War Historical Ancient Combat (KoWHAC) supplements are four unofficial PDF books to bring your Kings of War rules into the wars of ancient Greece and Persia, though the Roman era, raiding during the Viking age, and all the way to High Medieval wars. The books include new and updated special rules for historical flavor, army descriptions, and finally troop lists all designed to bring historical battles into the Kings of War rule set.
We have our exclusive interview with White Wolf Lead Storyteller Martin Elricsson (with input from White Wolf CEO Tobias Sjögren too!) posted. Hot on the heels of his interview with imagonem.org which kind of made the White Wolf community somewhat loose their minds over his comments. We follow up with several of his comments of that interview, dig deeper into the plans of the new White Wolf and explore his past. This is our grand opening article for the new World of Darkness News! A site dedicate to all news as it relates to Vampire the Masquerade; table top, PC gaming and LARP/community events.

I always find it interesting when you get to hear a game designer talk about the games that they have worked on. Interviews can really help you get an idea of why a designer put certain aspects into the game that they did, or why they got inspired to make the game to begin with. Perhaps you get a little history into where the game started and you can then see just how far it's come. Well, Warlord Games has posted up an extended interview with Rick Priestley, designer of Beyond the Gates of Antares.
This is a slightly longer version of a different interview video that had been previously posted. Now you get a bit more information from Rick, himself. So check it out.

I hope your weekend is going well (or has gone well if you are much further East than where I am currently). Mine's been full of some older movies that were watched just for the hell of it (such as Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, again, because just for the hell of it).
And now it's Sunday, so that means a day of housework for me. It also means a collection of bite-sized stories for you.

My name is Chip Beauvais and I live in Maynard, MA with my wife, daughter, and two bunnies. I started designing games a few years ago, and I haven’t found a way to stop yet.
Smoke and Mirrors is one of the latest games in Button Shy’s wallet series. In this game, you are a stage magician, claiming to have a better act than your opponents. Be careful what you say, though, or you may be called upon to perform an act you’re not prepared for!
I’m Greg Breault and I hail from a little-known state called Rhode Island. It’s crazy little. You can drive across it in 20 minutes. If you get me to say “Let’s get some coffee and quahogs and hop back in our car!” you will really be able to hear my accent. I try to hide it. I like to do so many things. Let’s see. I draw a lot, mostly digital now. I eat a lot and I play games. So, I guess I do 3 things. I also have two kids under 2, so enough said, that’s the fourth and last thing I am really able to do with such little time.

Kyy Games is excited to announce that Cabals: The Board Game is going to relaunch soon on Kickstarter. The battle card game, played on a game board, takes players back in time to the 1930s. A world of conflict, conspiracies and of course cabals prevail. Between two world wars players build their decks from 30 or more magical cards to battle for supremacy and shape the future.
Cabals: The Board Game gives extensive deck building permutations from the 276 cards included in the basic game set. Different strategies are available depending on which cabal you choose and which cards you build your deck with. Each cabal has an allied cabal providing even more deck building possibilities. Modular board pieces allow players to build there own battlefields, therefore making the game adhere to their own terms of combat.
The Kickstarter project to fund Cabals: The Board Game is planned to launch on September 17 (subject to change) and would see the game in the hands of fans in Spring 2016. Future additions to the game will be through complete expansion sets and so does not have booster packs like the digital collectible card game Cabals: Magic & Battle Cards. Over a million online matches act to back up the design and playability of cards included in Cabals: The Board Game.

When you wake up in the morning to the sounds of a gentle thunderstorm rolling through the area... you go back to bed. Needless to say, it was a rather slow, but glorious, start to the day.
Now it's time to get some stuff done, starting with bringing you a couple bite-sized stories from the past couple days.
In this batch we have: The Fiver with Sean Scott Garrity on Designing Time Jockeys, Corvus Corax Miniatures Kickstarter WIP pictures added, Jewels and Ancient Things - Final Week on Kickstarter.
Hey! I’m Sean Scott Garrity. I’m from Winnipeg, Manitoba in the Great White North. My hobbies are juggling a full-time job at a major airline, my family (which includes my wife and my two sons aged 4 years old and 6 months old,) and way too many home renovations. Oh yeah, and running a game company – Baksha Games.
Another WIP for Vakr from the Corvus Corax Miniatures - Dawning Kickstarter. With this sculpt being in its almost complete form (only missing sword and shield and some polishing details) all of the initial offered miniatures that is looking to be funded in the KS are completed. The estimated delievery time is with this looking extremely possibly to be hit!
Here is also some different angles of Aktra, sculpted by Patrick Masson, one of the miniatures that will hopefully soon see retail if the KS successfully funds.
Heading into it's final week of the Kickstarter campaign; Jewels and Ancient Things is 84% funded. Jewels and Ancient Things is the first expansion for Rack & Ruin, a campaign-based fantasy skirmish game.
Earlier this year Spiral Bridge Studios released Rack & Ruin, a campaign-based fantasy miniatures skirmish game. Now we are looking to build upon that success by adding a multitude of new options to help players build their parties in alternative ways.
Jewels and Ancient Things will give players the option to focus a character or even a whole party on different goals such as being expert treasure hunters or master artisans. Now, they can build their legacy though these methods rather than winning games or completing quests.

The week is coming to an end. Hopefully if you were at Gen Con last weekend, you've managed to get back into the "regular swing" of things. Just yesterday I was able to get through the last few lingering e-mails that'd backed up over the week I was away. Now to cruise into a nice weekend of... well, I plan on cooking. Red beans & rice, maybe some Italian beef... I want to make a pumpkin pie with squash mousse as well... We'll see how much of that I actually get through. Anyone that wants to come over and taste-test is welcome.
Speaking of bite-size morsels, we've got a collection of news stories that fit that description as well.

We continue on with the post-Gen Con week's work. Though I was able to keep up with a lot of things, obviously, things are going to fall behind in some areas. I'm almost out of the mountain of e-mails I'd gotten over the weekend. If I've not replied to you yet, don't worry, I will. There's just a lot to sort through.
At the moment, though, it's sorting through a bunch of bite-sized stories.

Hi everyone! My name is Gary and I'm the creator of Fablestone Dice. And this Kickstarter campaign is for the first ever production run of my original dice set called Bone Origins.
One of my favorite aspects of gaming in a fantasy world is the collection of rare treasures and valuable loot! Often these objects have a fascinating back story, perhaps even one we make up ourselves.
I got thinking, wouldn't it be cool and immersive if the dice we used were just that… curious items that could have actually been discovered on one of our dungeon crawls.
You can now use your collection of Warhammer High Elves miniatures to play Warthrone thanks to this new approved list.
Warthrone approved army lists, are created by fans, and sent to us for testing and approval. The approved army lists can be used in any game, event or tournament (official and unofficial) of Warthrone. These lists can be an adaptation of existing armies from other games, or completely invented armies, I will welcome all submissions!
We are very pleased to release our latest range of modern Middle Eastern figurines in 15mm -- these are Middle Eastern irregulars. They're extremely useful to represent fighters in conflicts over the past 30+ years, including Iraqi insurgents and IS fighters.
There are threes sets -- fighters with Russian rifles, fighters with US rifles (supplied with them, as are some of the Free Syrian Army fighters, or having taken them over, as IS has from the Iraqi Army), and finally squad command and weapons (two leaders, two RPGs and two RPKs).
A new month and a new free miniature from The Ion Age in every order. IMP24 Planetary Militia Demolition Expert is a 15mm scale white metal miniature. Great for you in your collection! This marks the end of our second year and the start of our third. Click through to read more and to get information on what is coming this month from us including the Year Two Collection. Thanks.

Hi, Everyone! My name is Adam Daulton and I’m the designer of Ninja Camp! I live in Indianapolis, Indiana with my beautiful (and gamer) wife Krista and our three daughters ages 6, 4, & 1. I grew up in Indiana, lived in Iowa for 6 years, and now have been back in the Hoosier state for the past 8 years.
Guten tag! Mein name ist Andrew Sallwasser. I’m one of the co-founders of Steamboat Gothic Studio. I’m an artist/designer based out of St. Louis, Missouri where I work both as a professional artist working in simulations, and as an amateur game developer involved within the thriving St. Louis indie community. When I’m not playing games or making them you can usually find me either brewing beer or cooking with it. Just about to get started on a Marzen so it’ll be ready by Oktoberfest, seemed appropriate.
Hello, everyone! My name is Matt Graff, and I’m an art director and designer at Adidas in Portland, Oregon. I’m passionate about designing, about creating, and about problem-solving. I feel I have equal tendencies towards creativity/spontaneity/designing and organization/problem-solving/logic. That skill set has served me well in the advertising and design field, and I think those skills also apply well to playing and creating board games.

Day 1 of Gen Con has been an absolute whirlwind. It feels like 3 days have already gone by. But no, it's just one. The show is a great time to sit down with some of the game companies in attendance and find out what they've been working on. One that I've been visiting a couple years in a row has been Justin Gary, the President of Stone Blade Entertainment (SBE). Ascension is on of my favorite games and one that I play most-often. So it's always great to try and pry bits of information about what's coming up for it. But it's not just Ascension this year from Stone Blade. We've got Bad Beets. Not only did I get a little info about the game, I got a full demo. Check out below to see how the game plays.
Starting out, Justin said that this is the most exciting year yet for Stone Blade Entertainment. Looking at the properties that have been SBE's bread and butter, Ascension and SolForge, both have been getting some love. For Ascension, they are on the 3rd edition of the game. There's a new base-box game. It has all-new art as well as cleaned up and clarified rules. The cards are easier than ever to read and understand how they work. This fall there will also be a "Year 2" set like they did with Year 1, where they'll put out all the cards that came out in the second year of the game's existence.
Looking forward from there, Ascension will be getting a new "Big box" expansion. Justin describes it as having "dramatic effects" that will change how the game plays. He also says it's for "hardcore gamers." Ascension has sometimes been lamented as being a bit "simple." It sounds like this new expansion will change all of that.
Here at the show is a new mini-release. This is the Location Pack. They operate in an interesting way. They are shuffled into the Center Deck like the rest of the cards. When they come out into the Center Row, they permanently alter the slot that they are placed in. This will change up how the Center Row effects cards as they're played, purchased, or fought. I picked up this copy for myself, since, as I mentioned, I'm an Ascension fanatic.
SolForge players have the actual main release of the game to look forward to soon. Currently, the game is still in Beta, but that will be coming to an end. The final tweaks to abilities, wordings, and artwork will be set and you can really get your gaming on with the official release of the game.
Me being me, I wanted to know a bit more about what Justin has in the works. With a little prying and a little arm-twisting, he let a few things slip. SBE is working on a couple new projects that he can't tell us fully about, but at least could hint at. One's a "big" project while the other is a "little" project. Justin is super-excited, and it's easy to tell. He says that they are a culmination of all his favorite parts of the various games he's worked on over the years, and that these are things he's been working on for a couple of those aforementioned years. Stay tuned for details.
Now, on to Bad Beets.
I have to admit, I was a bit dubious going into the demo. Not that I thought I wasn't going to like the game, but the catch-line of "kids trying to get rid of beets they don't want to eat" wasn't doing much for me, personally... probably mostly because I loved when we had beets as a kid! :P But with an open mind, I headed up to the demo table to play a game. Spoilers: I now love this game.
If you've played various bluffing/drafting games before like Love Letter or Masquerade, you might see some similarities.
As I mentioned, players are playing as kids sitting at the dinner table and they don't want to eat their beets. But you gotta get rid of them somehow, because if you do, you get ice cream (everyone always wants ice cream, otherwise you are dead inside). In order to do accomplish this, you have some options.
At the start of the game, everyone is given 8 Beet tokens and a single card. The first player starts out by drawing a card from the deck and playing one of their two cards face-down in front of them, while giving their other card to the player to their left. They then declare their action. The first is that they can simply eat a beet. This is the one "safe" action, as nobody can call your bluff on just eating a beet. This lets you discard 1 Beet Token. The other 3 actions correspond to cards in the deck and let you get rid of more than just a single Beet Token. The first is Share, where you get to pass 2 Beet Tokens to another player. Or you can Feed the Dog, which lets you discard 3 Beet Tokens. Finally, there's Tattle, which allows you to try and guess which card that player has. If you get it right, you can give that player 4 Beet Tokens from your stack.
So what's with the face-down-ness of your play? Well, you can claim you're playing any one of those last 3 as your card that you keep. Obviously, since you're playing the card face-down, only you know if you're telling the truth about what card you have. That's the bluffing aspect of the game. Just because you say you're doing a certain action, it doesn't mean you really are.
Other players can call your bluff. If they do, you reveal your card. If your card matches the action you took, you go through with the action and the player that thought you were lying takes a Beet Token from the center. If you were lying about your card, you don't do the action, and the player that called you on it can get rid of a Beet Token.
Play continues as you gain and lose Beet Tokens.
I actually really enjoyed Bad Beets. I really like quick, simple, easy-to-learn, easy-to-teach, easy-to-play games. A whole game of Bad Beets takes about 15min. You then just shuffle and play again. It's great for playing in-between playing other games, or just having marathon sessions of. Justin said that this was the first game that he's walked in on his family playing, and I can see why. Even just watching the demos, there were families playing it together. It really is a game you can have your kids play, as well as involve your more "Serious Gamer" friends and everyone can have a good time.
Stone Blade has also put up a quick instructional video about the game if you'd like to check that out.

With the drive to Indy yesterday, I obviously didn't have much of a chance to make posts (and no, trying to type in the car all day was not an option. I would've gotten all the carsick). So today I bring you both the Midweek Snippets and today's Terrain Corner together again in one place.

Each candle represents a different terrain you might visit on a campaign. Your game master can light a new candle every time you venture into a different realm, setting the stage -- and the mood -- with an evocative scent.
The set includes three candles:
Lair of the Dragon: musky and smoky. Fortress of Sorcery: spicy sandalwood with hints of olive and cypress. Forest of Enchantment: earthy oak and cedarwood with notes of eucalyptus.

You will need the Patrol Angis book but aside from that all you need is in the PDF. You can download the free PDF from our Dropbox account from a link in the blog post. Thanks everyone for your support.
Because of holidays, we haven't properly publicised our latest 15mm releases, so here's a slightly delayed catch-up.
The recently released 6mm Desert Dome buildings have been very popular and we’ve had more than the odd request to produce them in 15mm. So that’s exactly what we’ve done, with the three smallest buildings now available in the larger scale. The tallest cylindrical building comes in at an impressive 120mm tall.
In addition, our British 15mm figures have gained some heavy weapon options. We had trouble casting some of the original pieces, so instead we've used the same tripod weapons supplied with our PacFed figures.
B15-403 - Small Cylindrical Building - £12.00 B15-404 - Small Multi-dome Dwelling - £9.00 B15-405 - Small Oval Dwelling - £9.00 SF15-165a – Tripod MG and crew (x2) – £3.00 SF15-165b – Tripod Railgun and crew (x2) – £3.00 SF15-165c – Tripod Gatling and crew (x2) – £3.00 SF15-165d – Tripod Tri-barrel and crew (x2) – £3.00
Hello everyone. Pre-painted Catalogue We put together some of our pre-painted terrains. We will get fantastic battlefields to move inside our miniatures and our imagination. From the cemetery we pass the small village in ruin. Combining the two themes, we obtain a battlefield very complex suitable for any skirmish. Few or many… with our pre-painted terrains the battlefield comes to life. All the best. Lorenzo

Icarus Miniatures are proud to be showing off the 3D render for our second character, The Gunslinger.
The Gunslinger is an Alliance Marshal Detective. He roams the galaxy hunting the worst of the worst. Styled after the lawmen of old earth, the Gunslinger wears a heavy leather duster over his amrour, and is rarely seen without his iconic hat.
This is the second miniature to be sculpted for our sci fi skirmish game, The Icarus Project - the first being Gabriel Cross.
We are incredibly pleased with the results. The gunslinger not only fits within our own universe, but would be perfect for a myriad of other gaming systems and RPGS.
As you can see, the sculpt matches the artwork really nicely and captures the dour spirit of the character.

Seriously, is the week just chugging along for the rest of you, too? It is for me. Seems just yesterday I was working on stuff for Monday. Now it's already Wednesday. I guess being ridiculobusy before Gen Con will do that to you.

Hi, everybody! My name is Matt Saunders. I live in Gardner, Kansas, which is a smallish town on the edge of the Kansas City metro area. My wife, Sheila, and I have two kids – a boy and a girl – who are going into the fifth and third grades.
I work for an organization called Youthfront, and my real job is being a summer camp director. I have been doing this for three years. Prior to that, I worked as a student ministry director at churches in Kansas, Calgary (Alberta, Canada), and Idaho.
Howdy! My name is Ryan Cowler, and I’m basically a nerd with way too many interests and hobbies, haha! When I’m not working on various table top designs and hanging out with my wife and 2 kids at our home in Patterson, California, you can find me: collecting, repairing and playing pinball machines; collecting vintage games and consoles; expanding my tabletop game collection; and moonlighting a once or twice a month as a pro-wrestler out here in Northern California’s independent pro-wrestling scene. I pretty much just love anything and everything gaming or game related

Radio Dishdash Publishing and Phalanx Consortium are releasing our new game Skirmish OUTBREAK. This standalone ruleset provides a great new look at the Zombie skirmish wargame. This is a fast play game of Ragers and Zeds. The Rager is a human infected in the last 48 hours whose single drive is to kill as often as possible and is as fast and deadly as any human. The Zeds are the slower more dormant zombie but is just as deadly as they congregate in hordes looking for new food sources.
In the middle of all this is are the survivors. Whether by luck, cunning or skill the survivors have managed to get this far, now they are out in the ruins looking for the food, water and ammunition. Other Survivors may be friendly, but just as often are not, and how that works out in this world of kill or be killed is up to the players.
To support this great new game Radio Dishdash and Phalanx Consortium will also be releasing our initial range of figures that initially includes Ragers and Survivors. Take a look at our initial Rager renders below.
We continue to present next models, which after some correction are heading straight to production. The RAID officers in all its glory. If you need backup in your battle against some cyberpsychos RAID should be your first choice.
One more thing. Do you remember Maj Zack? Of course you do! His motto in life has always been “follow me” not just “move ahead”. He is back from leave, straight to the barracks and into the battle. Not alone. They will be present in real soon.
Menhir Games shows 4 more new renders for their line of "Champions from around the world".
These four models, and four more to come will be grouped as "set 3" and will complete the line with a total of 21 different models.
The set 1 and 2 were funded via kickstarter in August 2014 and April 2015; the 3rd set will be looking for funding as well in the followings months during 2015.
After working for more than a year, we have finished the design of Abba Games’ latest creation: “Portal of Morth – A dice defense game”, a game by authors Buster Lehn, Manuel Muñoz & Francisco Ruiz. The artwork has been created by Nicolás Serrano, who has taken care of all the graphic design and layout of the game, and Adrián Sánchez responsible for the illustrations. “Portal of Morth - A dice defense game” will be released in October’15, and will be showcased during the Essen Spiel’15 international board game fair.

Hello, beautiful readers, and welcome to another Sunday. Here at the bear cave, I'm doing a bit of cleaning and then I've got some Gen Con prep to work on. Yeah, the show is getting ever-closer. It'll be here before you know it. Just one more weekend after this before it's here. Will you be coming to the show? If so, lemme know. Maybe we can talk gaming (one of my favorite activities).
But that's for a couple weeks from now. At the moment, we've got some bite-sized stories to share.
In this batch we have: CROM: Conan Rise of Monsters has a teaser trailer for their Kickstarter launch, Gods and Monsters posts Kickstarter Video, A couple more installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Dead Earth Games Posts The Shattered Crown Gameplay Video, and DGS Games announces Freeblades Kickstarter stretch goals and future Demon Faction.
Roar! My name is Royce Banuelos with Roar Art Games! I’m a board game enthusiast who lives in St. Louis, MO with my wife and a fantastically silly baby girl. I spent 10+ years as a punk rock drummer playing in bands, sleeping on dirt and making no money and now I design board games.
Hi, my name is Tim Obermueller and I am the owner/developer at Tim Obermueller Games. I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I still live. I am currently in a marketing/advertising position. I have a passion for writing and playing tabletop games, which is kind of how I got into the game business.
Dead Earth Games have uploaded a video of The Shattered Crown author Rich Chappell talking through the unique turn/initiative system and some of the basics of combat for the game.
DGS Games announced on Saturday the development of a new Shadow Demon faction for their Freeblades game that is part of a stretch goal in their ongoing Creatures of Faelon Kickstarter.
From their Kickstarter Update:
"If we reach our first stretch goal of $10000, we will not only unlock an entirely new model – the Karbazaal, a demon leader – we will provide the rules for a brand new faction: THE SHADOW DEMONS! Yes, that is right, help us get to our stretch goal and we will not only give you one of the most powerful models in the game to date, it will lead a ninth faction into the game system. The Shadow Demon faction will be led by the Karbazaal with the Mokruhl as its caster. Its heroes will be Ventarx, Skethar, Gadarl and Saryad. And its followers will be the Dryad and two new models that will be the 2d and 3d stretch goals."

The work week rolls on. I'm once more in my Wednesday attire (Kansas State Baseball practice jersey over SIUE t-shirt), which is appropriate, seeing as it is Wednesday. With any luck, your week is going by nicely. Here at the office we're looking to play some Age of Sigmar this afternoon. It'll be our first time playing. Don't worry, we'll let you know how it went later in the week.
But at the moment, we've got a batch of bite-sized stories to give you.
This bundle includes: Age of Sigmar Points Calculator & Patch from One Page Rules, some more installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Abyssal Dwarves and Vampire Counts added to Army Throne from Warthrone, New miniature by Brother Vinni: "Project Limes" Commander, Another World Indiegogo campaign: Stretch Goal Unlocked, War Mage Games to launch their Tournament & Transport Solution this week, Cibo's Little Dudes Historical Miniatures, Interdimensional horrors invade Meridian Miniatures, Ancient Machinery 30mm and 40mm Round-Lip Bases Available from Tabletop-Art, Titan-forge new Ghostbikes, Celestial Knight preorder from Kabuki Models, and Syrinscape Now Compatible with iPhone and Android Phone.
Even though we originally said we weren’t going to, we still couldn’t resist it… so we tried to come up with a simple way to calculate point costs in Age of Sigmar.
The system we came up with is not 100% perfect, but should make for some fairly balanced games. It serves more as a solid basis from which to start, and then you can tweak units that are clearly unbalanced.
Give it a try.
On top of that today we are updating Page of Sigmar to v0.5, fixing some typos and clarifying a couple of things that needed some more definition.
Hello! My name is Joshua Buergel. By day, I’m a software developer at a small company, and by night, I’m a tabletop game obsessive. I’ve been playing hobby games, starting with D&D, for about the last 33 years. I’ve been designing off and on for about the last 12 or so, but this year is the first that I’ve made a big push getting those games out to people. When I’m not gaming, I’m thinking about gaming, and when I’m not doing that, I’m chasing around three small children.
Hello! My name is Daniel Isom and I’m an alcoh…oh wait wrong place. Let’s try that again. Hello! My name is Daniel Isom and I’m the designer of STAC and the founder of Simple Design Publishing.
I currently live in Delaware with my wife and two kids; one of which was born almost exactly 1 week to the hour prior to STAC’s Kickstarter launch date. Yes, I was stupid…I mean brave enough to run a campaign with a newborn and a two-year-old running around. When I’m not designing games or flooding my social media feeds with advertisements for my designs, I’m either spending time with my family or cooking up a new dish in the kitchen. I even used to write two separate food blogs for a while.
Hello, My name is Brian Suhre, and I’m the designer of Paradox. I live in Illinois with my wife and two kids. I spend most my days fiddling around with game design and chauffeuring my kids from one location to another.
Hey, everyone, we’re Chad and David of Cheese Block Games. We live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In our day jobs Chad is an elementary school teacher and David has a marketing and branding company. When not working we like to spend most of our time playing board games or watching sports.
We wouldn’t really call it a career, but we’ve been working on our current game Cargo: Dead in the Water for over a year and a half now. It’s been a pretty long road, but we’re pretty happy with how the game turned out and how much we’ve learned about designing board games.
Warthrone approved army lists are unofficial lists created by fans, that have been submitted to AoW, and have been reviewed, tested and approved to be used against any of the other approved lists (official and unofficial) for Warthrone.
These lists can be an adaptation of existing armies from other games, or completely invented armies, I will welcome all submissions!
Our indiegogo campaign has reached our second stretch goal: Fluffy the crazy dog, a very nice miniature, sculpted by Alessio Cisbani aka Wolfbane! FREE for all backers who choose the I WANT THEM ALL PERK!!! Congratulation, you'll take 12 miniatures now with your already great deal !!! Other backers can take it at only 3 euros (free shipping!) When at a tournament or playing a game of X-Wing or Star Trek / D&D Attack Wing with friends, we all know what happens when people use the slippery plastic trays from fast food restaurants.
We created a solution for this, our Tournament Tray. In addition, we also created the modular Transport Solution, incorporating the Tournament Tray into a system with which you can easily carry all your space ships, tokens, cards, maneuver wheels and everything else to the game venue safely and in style.
Everything is organized and quick to set up. Be ready and relax while the others still pick up their pieces from the floor.

Welcome back again to TGN. Hopefully you had a good day yesterday. I spent the morning cleaning the place up a bit. Then most of the afternoon assembling a little more than half of the Age of Sigmar box set. The other half will be done today, after I get this post scheduled up. I've just got the Khorne warrior-dudes left to go.
How about you? What sort of gaming-related activities did you do yesterday/have planned for today?
In this batch of snippets we've got: A couple more installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Advanced Deployment's Huge Birthday Sale, Schleswig Holstein flags from Victorian Steel, Shattered Crown Previews Bear Cavalry Render, and Last days for RN Estudio's Latest Fantasy Sports Indiegogo campaign.
Hi! My name is Grant Rodiek. I’m a 31-year-old video game developer who lives in San Francisco with my fiance (wife shortly) and corgi. I devote my free time to creating and playing tabletop games, running, and trying out as many San Francisco restaurants as possible. I’m obsessed with games and they’re constantly on my mind.
Hi, folks at home! I’m Joshua Cappel. “Cappel” rhymes with “lapel”, in case you ever find yourself needing to say it out loud. You never know, right? I am from Toronto, Canada, and I’m a game artist and game designer. My hobbies are mostly all wrapped up with those two occupations, but I also dig outdoorsy non-organized-sport stuff like hiking and climbing and paddling.
Join us as we celebrate our Founder's Birthday! From July 11-13 when you enter code HAPPYBDAY! you can save 30% off your order of $30 or more! We have a ton of new products, and a special section of Limited Edition items back for this event! Check them out under the "Back for the Birthday" heading!
Flags available on the website. 27 flags for the army of Holstein, these are really good print quality and great value for money, so far over £300 has been raised towards Combat Stress, if it was not for the flags this money would never of been raised so a big thank you for the donations to all who have contributed in buying the flags.
The army of Holstein carried flags of black, red and gold, horizontal and vertical with the black being nearest to the staff, they also carried the blue white and red flag with the coat of arms in the center, a number of mottos were written on these colours and in german writtings, these are also represented on the colours.
More to follow over the coming weeks, these will be the full army of Denmark including the cavalry and reserves, plus many colourful Prussian flags which could be used from the Napoleonic wars to the Franco-Prussian war.

Congratulations to everyone for once again making it to Friday. You've worked hard all week, and now it'll be time to kick back, relax, and enjoy some gaming. My weekend plans include putting together an Age of Sigmar set to test out early next week. Since the release of the rules last Saturday, I've had lots of thoughts on the new system. Those I will post next week after I get a chance to actually put mini-to-table and roll some dice.
But that's the future. The present has us giving you the various bite-sized stories we've collected over the past couple days.

Alternative Armies has released a complete set of the classic 25mm / 28mm white metal Space Marines originally by Asgard back around 1980. The single miniatures have been up on our website for a year now but it was pointed out to us that while we were showing love to the classic Asgard fantasy Barbarians with a complete set with saving we had not done the same thing for the Space Marines! Well that would not do so here we are! Save 15% and get all of them. Click through to read and see more.
Critical Mass Games is seeking funding for the large scale Ayame Mecha miniature and has re-launched its campaign on Kickstarter.
This impressive miniature will stand 70mm tall and is not only suitable as a monster mecha option for 15mm gamers but also a heavy battlesuit model for larger scale games.

This model adds flying creatures and models rules to the Freeblades game system. The Ventarx is a good substitute for a Marauder in the Grular list, or creature to hunt in one of our scenarios.

The arc marker is an ideal tool to mark the 180° front arc (90° marking is also possible) on round lip bases. We have three versions: Acrylic glass black and red or MDF.
Simply push the base into the slot, hold on to the base and the marker, and draw a line along the clip. These clips have the same curve as the edge of the base which makes marking the front arc easier and precise. You can make the marks using permanent marker, a brush or, like in the example, a pencil (which is removable).
You can glue the clips into the marker or you just plug them together. So you can remove the clips from one side in case you are using a base that overlaps.
If you want to glue them together, we would recommend wood glue, so that in case you're using acrylic glass you have still the option of removing the clips.
The Nemesis LSV has finally been released to the general public! All pre-orders are out and now everyone is able to order one.
Designed to carry a driver and passenger, or just a driver with an advanced AI system to complement, the Nemesis is cutting edge technology on any battlefield.
Emission absorbing coating, advanced ECM/ECCM sensor suite and high-megawatt plasma weaponry make the Nemesis a staple in symmetric and asymmetric Special Operations Warfare. Its four-wheel independent suspension and power train redundancy allows it to take a hit and keep on traversing the most difficult terrain.
Available as a multi-part resin kit in popular 28mm scale for $28.99
Veil Fall will be a miniatures board game based on our Veil Fall universe, or Dark , Future Horror combined with fantasy elements and a strong influence from masters of horror such as H. P. lovecraft and story and theme influences taken from the Dark Souls series and the recent Bloodborne game. This means much of our setting , story and background will be told through hints and delibrate gaps in the story and background will be made leaving it to you the gamer to come to your own conclusions on what was , what is and what will be.
We received a second set of test shots last week that exhibited minor fill and flashing errors. This was caused by some of the fine detail on sword bayonets and bucket handles. This has meant that the tool is back in the tool room to have these finer parts modified thus eliminating the fill and flash issues.
Unfortunately the tool maker who is working on the French artillery tool is on holiday until the middle of next week and as a result the modifications will not be made until his return. Our sincere apologies for delay. This artillery set is without doubt our most detailed figure set to date and our first Napoleonic set that has been designed digitally. It is important that we iron out these minor errors so we can deliver a superb set of historical figures for our customers.
I will keep everyone abreast of any new developments with the French Artillery 1805 - 1812. On a more positive note over the next 2 weeks we will be showing digital renders of our Ancient Spanish set which includes unarmoured Iberian warriors, an armoured set of Iberian warriors and finally Balearic slingers. All 3 elements will have command figures.
Finally we will also be showing renders of the Napoleonic French artillery 1812 - 1815 including the XI 6pounder gun.

We're halfway there, ladies and gentlemen. Halfway to the weekend. If you haven't started making plans, now would be a good time. For those of you in the US, the 4th of July is Saturday. I'm sure cookouts will abound. And if you're at one, why not bring along a game or two to play? There's plenty of party games that would be most welcome at just about any gathering. For me? I'm going to keep things low-key this weekend. I had two rather busy weekends in a row. So this weekend I'm going to stay at home and cook. What am I going to cook? ... I've not figured that out yet. Suggestions would be welcome (and any accompanying recipes also welcome).
But as for right now, it's time for some bite-sized stories.

Howdy! I’m Andrew Federspiel, founder of Knapsack Games. I design and self-publish casual to mid-core tabletop games. Knapsack is based in the Los Angeles area, with contracted folks around the country. I’m originally from central New Jersey (turnpike exit 8A :). Knapsack is my full-time gig, accompanied by some web design and marketing work on the side.
Hi! Travis R. Chance here! I live in Indianapolis and currently am one of the owners/designers at Action Phase Games–or, as some people know me “one of the guys that made Heroes Wanted.”
Hello! I’m a software engineer living in Tucson, Arizona, originally from the northern swampland of Michigan. My hobbies are board gaming, rock climbing, and of course beer.
Over the past 8 or so years, I have been moving away from video games and more toward board games. I like being around people, I like human interaction, and I like the tactile feel of physical objects instead of a mouse or controller and staring at a screen (which I do for 8 hours a day at my job).
Hello! My name is Mike Strickland and I’m the co-founder of Outer Limit Games (also co-founded by my dad Stan). My background is in business management and computer information systems, and I am also a freelance graphic/web designer. I reside near the outer edge of the Everglades in hot and humid Estero, Florida. I’m originally from Virginia Beach, VA but have lived in Florida most of my life, although it took me about 20 years to finally get used to the heat!

Die-Hard Games is now using a fulfillment center in the EU and Canada so prices got slashed, no custom fees down the road, and no delays for the backers! Duplicates of the existing Reward Tiers have been posted with "EU Friendly" added onto the Reward Tier to clarify which tiers have the updated shipping rates. If you're not a EU or Canadian backer then there is no need to switch reward tiers as those prices are still the same for you.
I just want to address a few things real quick about press releases and the amount of expected free press from publishers. Right now there are roughly 250 projects on Kickstarter for board games. That is right about 250 games currently needing press and the ability to help separate themselves from the other games out there. This means websites are inundated with people asking for free press all the time. “We are just one man with a limited budget” is the popular phrase the comes with many emails. Guess what? So are we. That means to me, it takes time from my studio at $150 an hour to post your press release for free to reach our followers and many times it’s at last-minute notice or after the game has already launched. So here are few things to think about when sending a press release asking for help for free with all the others asking for help for free.

Well, we're mostly caught-up here after the Expo last weekend. Still a few things to deal with, but my inbox was actually down to a manageable level after going through it yesterday. Of course, it's now filled back up again, but waddyagonnado?
Another thing that's full is the box with the bite-sized stories we've collected over the past couple days. Good thing it's time for our regular Snippets post.

Hi! A new month appears, and like always we've prepared a great collection of new releases. Let's move on to our new releases.
Generic Fantasy Range As in previous months, let's start with the personality packs. This time we've four packs! Probably the most iconic person in any self-respecting adventure group is the Wizard. GFR0079 - Godefridus the Wizard at your service. Another obligatory member of any group is the dwarf with axe, GFR0088 - Degenhard the Axe is ready for duty. The next two packs represent nobles which most adventurers will meet on their road to glory. GFR0081 - Vitoldus The King of Elves, and GFR0089 - Sister Leocadia. The last pack GFR0101 - The Minions of The Unforgiven will be a exciting enemy for our adventurers.
1/300 scale In this month we bring a new terrain piece to our 1/300 scale range, TTR012 - Stone farm.
On our workbench (aka "Design Studio") As I mention in previous newsletter, Jon is working on Dworks, for those who missed first WIP on our forum or FB.
That's all for this month, more nice stuff coming soon!
Mounted Heroes Kickstarter has reached its end and, unfortunately, the project is not funded. Along this 30 days we have received many support and nice words for our project, we have learned from our mistakes and we have also realized some things we could and should improve. That, and the certainty that 3D print has still many possibilities, has been to us an important encouragement to believe in our project.
This said, we have really good news for Mounted Heroes that we want to share with you. Thanks to Kickstarter and all the online media that has collaborated and helped us, we have reached many people and got support from a different way, so we want to announce that Imagine 3D Miniatures online store will be opening on fall 2015.
We will keep you updated while we work on the online store and new models for it.
Hey, everyone! My name is Khairul Hamdan (yes, I know, hard to pronounce). I am an Aussie board game designer and founder of Garage Games Australia. When I am not dodging fire tornadoes and drop bears, most of my time is spent designing, gaming and often dancing… badly.
Howdy! I’m JT Smith, I’m a game designer from Madison, Wisconsin. Most people know me as one of the owners of The Game Crafter (www.thegamecrafter.com). I love playing people’s prototypes almost as much as I like designing new games. For that reason I attend 2-4 Protospiel events per year, and also meet up with other local game designers as often as I can to try out their fresh new designs.
I’ve been designing games for over 20 years but mostly make games for me and my friends. I have only tried to publish games a few times.
My name is Matt Loomis and I love to design tabletop games. You may have heard me on a podcast, met me at a gaming convention or maybe even supported a Kickstarter I was a part of (Thanks!) But just in case you’ve never heard of me, I currently reside in northern Illinois with my wife and son. I work as a Business Analyst for my day job, which may sound a little boring unless you really love working with data (which I do)!
Hey, everyone. My name is Larry Lembcke and I represent Spellforge Games. I am based out of Louisville, Kentucky, and I do a bunch of stuff :) My day job is internet marketing (you may have seen an article I wrote recently about Kickstarter and Google Analytics.) Spellforge Games is my side project (which lately has taken more time than my full-time job!) Oddly enough, I also do bodybuilding/fitness consultation on the side as well, which is kind of a shock to gamer folks when they meet me.
Hi! I’m Kim Brebach, a game lover and now designer from Sydney Australia. I’m into all sorts of games now that I have kids growing up. In former lives I have swung a sword, a 4 stringed axe, been an environmental activist, a bit of a techie, an English teacher, and am currently a digital project manager with a strong interest in user experience and digital campaigning.
There are only a few days left to get yourself a free 59010 Slaughterloo Monument terrain piece in orders and to take advantage of our offers on a list of our most popular Elf, Orc and Dwarf codes. Offers and free end on 29th June 2015. Inspired by the release of the Slaughterloo Monument sculptor and all round top guy Christian Cello has penned a short tale and Flintloque scenario called 'The Spirit of Slaughterloo. It concerns former combatants in the Mordredian Wars being brought once more into the fray long after the wars have officially ended for one last crack at the Ferach Elves. Click through for all this and a download link for the PDF. Thanks.

Iron Battlefield is a new Sci-fi scenery range for 28mm wargames, designed to create heavy and industrial style structures over the battle board, through a highly configurable system for inner and outer game.
This range has been designed to make a realistic industrial environment: dark and metallic colours on main areas, like walls, floors, catwalks, grids... combining with high colourful and special items than provides sophistication to the group, like vivid colour plates, or crystal fences and tiles.
In sum, a metallic and heavy landscape, to recreate an industrial complex, big space hulks, and outer colonial facilities.
Next month we are going to create new dwarf with really big axe and "something". Something (we have special name for it - guess what) will be really big.
More pictures and information can be found on SirenMiniatures' Facebook page or website.
We are looking to expand the range with yet more Characters and Personalities and Troops, the First 8 Characters have been commissioned and paid for. Your Contribution will help the range grow and expand.
Welcome to a week of insider info and reveals for Dungeon Saga – it is nearly time to gather your party ;)
Over the course of the next few days we will have a look at all aspects of the upcoming ‘Dungeon Saga’ game. This week in particular we’ll have an in-depth look at ‘The Adventurers Companion’ and what that is. There are features on some new art, designer’s notes and as many photos of models as we can cram in. We hope it will be interesting to both backers – veterans of every update, and new inductees discovering Dungeon Saga for the first time.
When your rescue team arrive at H9-7M, only a few days after they detected the distress beacon, there are no signs of the scientists that called the lonely outpost home. However, there are signs of a struggle - blood stains, barricades, and rips in the metal walls that lead into mysterious tunnels.
A printable battlemap compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset.

Star Vikings In the distant future of mankind a group of fanatical and evil scientists broke sacred laws by creating human-animal hybrids. These scientists and their loyal followers were forced to flee from Earth aboard several starships. They were hardy peoples coming from Skandanavia so they choose a winter world as their new home. Their numbers were few and compared to the standing armies of the empires and federations around them they were weak. To ensure their survival the mythos of the Norsemen was incorporated into their now accelerated gene beast research. This new force allowed the now Star Viking peoples to mount raids vital to their development and in time they grew strong and corrupt. Using the few human soldiers they have well most raids are carried out by the gene ripped creatures from massive factories on their world. Among them are Battle Boars of legend, Stocky Dwarves of mythos and vile goblinoids of lore. Lastly the huge Battle Giants pieced together for combat. The Star Vikings are to be feared...to some they are hailed as Devils.

Hey there everyone from here at the CMON Expo 2015! The panel for Arcadia Quest just wrapped up and have we got some news for you. We had a short look into the creation of the game, but what I'm sure
Hey there everyone from here at the CMON Expo 2015! The panel for Arcadia Quest just wrapped up and have we got some news for you. We had a short look into the creation of the game, but what I'm sure most of you are excited to read up on are the new things coming for the game. So let's dive in and see what had to be said. Note: artwork and miniatures below are works in progress. So there's a chance things might change slightly.
The core idea of the game started with wanting a Chibi Adventure game. However, it was to be one with heavy RPG elements and not specifically a dungeon crawl. The designers were tasked with coming up with a game that would be set in the open spaces of a town, as opposed to just a single dungeon environment. This would allow for new and exciting places to be added as the game progressed. And that's just what they're doing with the next expansion, Arcadia Inferno.
The new game introduces four new Guilds: Sharks, Tigers, Crows, and Serpents. The themes for the new characters won't be quite as "vanilla" as the original ones. Now that the sort of standard archetype characters have been created, the designers have taken the time to really branch out and create new and different-playing characters for your quests. So there's new types like Alchemists and Gladiators you can send into battle. Of course, you can still use your favorite classic Arcadia Quest heroes if you want as well. The games are 100% compatible.
Facing these guilds will be a new, branching campaign system. The story is that the Guilds are taking on the forces of hell, itself, heading down further and further into the fiery abyss. Of course, with this new environment, there will be new game tiles. Just be careful where you step. You might end up with a hot foot. For those familiar with Beyond the Grave, there will be Brimstone cards that mimic aspects of Tombstone cards.
There's also a new mechanic in the game in the form of Damnation. As your heroes adventure downward, they'll come across relics and other items that can give great power, but at a cost. They can corrupt your characters over time, or cause monsters to behave in a different manner around them. So a little boost now might end up costing you later on.
With new dangers come new allies. Angels are sprinkled throughout hell that the adventuring parties will sometimes come across. They are special characters the players will either have to help, escort, or rescue. Completing certain tasks might allow you to recruit those Angels into your party later on. The branching nature of the campaign for this expansion is based on how the players interact with the Angels.
Looks like things are beginning to heat up for Arcadia Quest.
Another big announcement at the panel was the new Blue Dragon set. This isn't part of Inferno specifically, but an extra piece for any Arcadia Quest campaign. The dragon is a new final piece that your guilds can face once you finish a campaign. It will come with its own tile and have its own special rules, including a unique breath weapon. Note: the photos below show the final studio painted mini. The Dragon will come unpainted.
Announced last night at the CMON State of Affairs, but also touched on during this panel was Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia. This is a new game that's sort of a cousin of Arcadia Quest, as both take place in the same universe. However, this is a smaller game, as opposed to the "big box" of Arcadia Quest. The developers still being rather tight-lipped about details, but they did say that heroes from Masmorra may be able to be played in Arcadia Quest.
Stay tuned for more information about this new game as things develop.

Calamity brews in Detroit. Paranormal activity is on the rise. An angry spirit, a dangerous creature, or a pack of desperate cultists hides under every sewer cover and within every abandoned building. Corktown has a secret, though. Its crew of supposed washouts are either psychics or have encountered the paranormal. The officers of Corktown Precinct stand between the city and paranormal onslaught. These damaged, over-worked, and under-paid officers must keep paranormal activity in Detroit under wraps and out of sight. No mean feat in a city as old, large, and haunted as Detroit. Corktown officers face constant threats from mundane crime, paranormal forces, as well as their inner demons and growing madness.

From the outside, the building seems no different to countless others in the city of Wardenhale. In fact, if you were to enter the building you would simply find the offices of Dalor and Son: Import & Export Services and be asked to be on your way.
However, if you knew the right people, you'd be shown through the back door and into the real business here - gambling. Patrons wager their livelihoods on the throw of a dice or the turn of a card, and if you are in the mood you can venture downstairs and bet on one of the illegal fights that takes place in the arene down there.
Boxing fights, knife fights, bear baiting - it all happens in the Wardenhale Gambling Den
SDGS has released a Nassau Sloop model for Sailpower 2.0. This 15mm small craft is typical of the 6 gun sloop favored by pirates of Nassau. Pirates preferred small sloops for their maneuverability and upwind sailing performance as well as the ability to escape large warships in shallow waters. This sloop model reflects a typical 6-gun sloop with a few pirate upgrades including mount points for swivel rail guns and stern gun ports.
Kit Features: ? One-piece resin cast hull ? 6 guns (4 deck guns included with kit, 2 below deck guns represented on hull/not included) ? Ready to assemble masting ? Patterned after historical Golden Age pirate sloops ? Two color casting (brown hull with black accessories) ? Assembly and painting required
There are new sets in the Battlezones range of 20th Century Brick-themed terrain.
The Battlezones Tile System means that every kit is part of hard plastic and, using an innovative connector system, fully modular.
Three new kits have been added to the range, offering different combinations of ruined and intact tiles to build a convenience store, apartment block or a ruined village. Since the system is modular, you can build just about anything else you can think of too.
These smaller sets are designed to be lighter on the wallet than the big-city kits, and will offer cover and scenery from a variety of genres of games. Mantic have used World War II an Post-Apocalytic as examples.
The new 20th Century Brick battlezones scenery hits retailer shelves at the end of this month.
