Historical Games Factory

Theomachie crowdfunding for Cthulhu Mythos expansion in German

Gaming is certainly a worldwide phenomenon. You can go to any country and find people spending their free time by playing games. Unfortunately, we haven't yet gotten that "one world language" thing down yet. And not everyone knows how to speak every language. So sometimes you can have a really awesome game, but people won't be able to play it because they can't read it. Well, Historical Games Factory is looking to release some of the expansions for their Theomachie card game, and they've taken to Spiele Offensive in order to get them funded.

From the website:

The other week, while browsing the upcoming Essen releases on Board Game Geek, I stumbled upon some amazing artwork for a game called Heroes by Historical Games Factory. I wanted to know more about this new game and about this Polish games company that I’ve never heard of before. Instead of doing what any normal person would and partake in a bit of google sleuthing I thought I’d go straight to the source and started talking to Piotr from Historical Games Factory about who they are and their new games.

With Spiel 2013 coming next week, the Historical Games Factory team from Poland presents two special promo items available exclusively at this year's show.
The promo sheet for The Outcast Heroes includes two alternative special mission cards that may replace the "Free the prisoners" card, providing additional rules and different difficulty levels. Both sides represent actual prison buildings from the communist times in Poland.

The sheet for Sigismundus Augustus provides a new character, queen Bona Sforza d'Aragona. Two sides represent the ambiguous opinions on the queen circulating among historians, depicting her either as generous and helpful lady, or a treacherous poisoner.

Both promos will be available at booth 2-B130 as a free bonus added to each copy sold at Spiel.

Historical Games Factory posts final English rulebook for The Outcast Heroes

Historical Games Factory lets you take a look at the rulebook for The Outcast Heroes for free, having posted it on their BGG page.

From the announcement:

The Outcast Heroes presents the story of the so-called Cursed Soldiers, the units that fought against Soviet invaders at the end of World War II and did not lay down their arms even after the War was officially over.

The players send their soldiers on missions and must cooperate in order to beat a mission's Difficulty Level (but please note that it's not a truly cooperative game, it just employs some elements of the co-op mechanics, you do not play "against the game"). They earn Glory Points for successful missions as well as for achieving their Secret Goals. In the Secret Goals deck there are also Traitor cards (traitors earn points when missions fail). The game mechanisms also involve an element of bidding (to determinine the first player) and secret Order cards given to the soldiers to enhance their power. The game is divided into three stages and each stage consists of four rounds. Whoever gathers the most points after the third stage wins.
