Your adventuring party has cleaned out the local nest of goblins and gotten their reward. They head to the tavern for some well-deserved rest when someone suggests a game. Cards and pulled out and bets are made. Chances are, the game they're playing is Three Dragon Ante. If you want to get in on the same action, you can do so with the new Legendary Edition of Three Dragon Ante, available from WizKids.
What's your type? Tall, dark, and handsome? Gothy vampire? Bookworm? Chubby chef? All of the above? Are you looking for someone special to enter your life? Then Hey Cutie might be the game for you. It's a new dating sim card game that's up on Kickstarter now. Find your perfect match!
How well do you know your friends? I mean, really know them (ok, maybe not -biblically- know them, but really, really know them)? And, almost as importantly, what do you think about them? And are you willing to tell them exactly what you think? If so, then Burning Bridges might just be the party card game for you.
I believe it was the philosopher Pitt who asked the famous question, "What's in the boooooooooooox!?!?!"
A box is such a magical thing, full of potential. Anything could be in there. But there is only one true answer for what is actually in there. In this preview video, Plaid Hat Games uncovers the mystery with an unboxing video for Battlelands: Aftermath Edition.
It's started to get cooler out, even here in Atlanta. Highs will soon drop below the 90s and lows might dip into the upper 50s. Autumn is nearly upon us, and with it comes the haunting season. All things ghoulish are coming, including Fantasy Flight's Arkham Nights 2019, a 3 day festival of all things horror and weird based on H.P. Lovecraft's work. Tickets are available now.
It's Friday the 13th. It's also a full moon.
Be careful out there, everyone. O,o
In the meantime, I'm going to hunker in my bear cave and munch on some bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: Elder Wood Running Spellbook Minis Dice and Miniatures Boxes Kickstarter, Handmade Zodiac Gemstone Dice Up On Kickstarter, Bloodstone Dice Up On Kickstarter, Vacant Realms Steampunk and Fantasy Miniatures Up On Kickstarter, and 5mm Metal Micro Dice Up On Kickstarter.
Pretty much all of us carry around a little supercomputer in our pockets. We've got stats that show that most of you are reading this sentence on a portable supercomputer now. Why not integrate them into the party games that you play when you get together with friends? That's the thought behind Game of Phones, a party game that's been redesigned and is back up on Kickstarter now.
The next in the Omen Saga of cards games from Kolossal Games is up on Kickstarter now. Omen: Heir to the Dunes, as one would expect, takes you to the mythical land of ancient Egypt. Anubis and Horus are about to go to war to see which will reign supreme, light or dark.
Though I'm kinda partial to dark, I guess it'd be good to still have light around, too.
The game is up on Kickstarter now.
Being one of the bigger announcements from Gen Con, Fantasy Flight is bringing out Marvel Champions, a new LCG based on Marvel comics characters. While we don't normally cover LCGs, we figured that having coverage of such a hot property at least to its initial release was ideal. As such, we present Fantasy Flight's preview of the upcoming Captain America Hero Pack.
Here come da judge. Here come da judge. Order in the courtroom. Here come da judge.
For those of you that like to get together and play games, there's a new party game that's up on Kickstarter. It tests how well you know your friends by judging them guilty or innocent of things that they may or may not have done in their life. Check out the campaign for Judge Your 'Friends' now.
Battlelands: Aftermath Edition will pit you against the other creatures still around in the post-apocalyptic world where humanity has suddenly vanished. in this preview, we get a look at the different factions, as well as some of the cards on offer to them in this territory-grabbing card game.
WizKids is creating a card game based on the Coraline movie (one of my personal favorites, mind you), which is, of course, based on the Neil Gaiman book. It's called Coraline: Beware the Other Mother. In the game, players take on the role of the ghost children, captured by the Baldam, who are looking to free Coraline by finding various objects around the spooky house and avoiding all the other strange people living there. The game is set for a December release.
Now here's a game close to my own heart. As far as I'm concerned, Bard = Best Class. And yeah, my Bard, Lead, might be the kind to, after he finishes a set at the local tavern, point out into the crowd at random listeners and go, "Room? Room? Room?" So, Bard Party, a new card game all about Bards trying to seduce the various patrons of the tavern they're playing at is right up my alley. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. It's rough. Only one will make it out alive. At least, that's the case in Board Royale: The Island, a new survival battle royale card game that's up on Kickstarter now. Gather equipment, craft supplies, and make sure that you're the last one standing.
It's never good when the throne, the seat of government, is left empty. It means that the land is leaderless. Of course, people have their own thoughts on who should be seated there. Sometimes, that includes themselves. Everybody wants to rule the world. But in the end, only one can. The decision is up to you to fight over in Eternal: Chronicle of the Throne, a new card game now available from Renegade Game Studio.
The Moonrakers are looking for a new leader. Will it be you? That's what you're trying to decide in Moonrakers, a new deck-building game of temporary alliances and convenient backstabbing that's up on Kickstarter now.
A new pair of games are hitting shelves from Pandasaurus. For those that like abstract puzzles, you can have yourself a look at Mental Blocks. It kind of reminds me of the old Tangrams pieces, but in 3D. For fans of Machi Koro, there's a new version of that game with Machi Koro Legacy. Now, when you build your city, it will stay built.
Two foxes playing in the forest, looking to collect gems. That's a rather nice, lighthearted theme for a game, don't you think? And that's what you'll be doing in Fox in the Forest Duet, a new trick-taking game coming from Renegade Game Studios. This cooperative game has players looking to move around the forest board by playing tricks while not straying too far from the past, lest they get lost. Pre-orders are being taken now.
How well do you know your friends? Can you think like they can? Can you guess what they're going to say? If so, you'll be a shoe-in to win Match-O-Rama, a new party game from USAopoly that's available now. Using the prompt card, come up with your answer, but also guess who near you will also guess that same answer. The closer to the person you know best, the better.
The closing bell might have rang for the day, but that doesn't mean you can't wheel and deal a bit before trading fully ends. Nauvoo Games has opened up Late Pledges for their Stockpile trading game, as well as the expansion. Want to get all those Kickstarter deals and exclusives? This is your last chance.
A pair of new games are available from Renegade Game Studios today. Time Chasers is a trick-taking game where you can actually go back and change cards you played in a previous trick. That should shake things up a bit. Meanwhile, in Bargain Quest, you open up your own shop, looking to supply all the adventurers in the region with the best gear. You can pick up both now.
"This is just one huge fiasco!" It's what you say when a rather convoluted plan starts going all to hell and things start figuratively and literally possibly start flying into or out of the windows and nothing works out. It's also describing when you and your friends get down to play a game of Fiasco. All sorts of convoluted plans go awry and you have to figure out a solution (if you can). A new edition of the classic game is up on Kickstarter now.
I like trains. *gets run over by a train*
De-mond the Moon Bear! *pause* "How did I get here?"
I baked you a pie!
Pie flavor! *guitar riff*
So, I might've seen the ASDFMovies a cooooouple of times. Now, the creators behind it are running a Kickstarter for a new card game called Muffin Time that's as weird and random as the internet videos.
Games. We pretty much all play them.
Promo items. We pretty much all want them.
Renegade Game Studios is once more giving us both of those in their Level Up Loot 2 box, filled with promos for their various games Want to get one? Ask your LGS about ordering one.
The board game/deck-building game Clank! In! Space! is getting a new expansion. Cyber Station 11 gives players a new game board to explore, new adventure deck cards to find, a new type of escape pod (where you can make your way away in style), and the new Commander Preon boss. Renegade Game Studios is taking pre-orders for this set (which is due out in November) now.
